francescob
I wanted to gift a Lumia 535 for xmas but apparently they seem to have pretty bad issues with the touchscreen that make it laggy and unresponsive plus sometimes it registers pressures in the wrong places. Any news if they're going to fix it? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1239400-what-is-wrong-with-lumia-535-touchscreens/ Share on other sites

Any news if they're going to fix it? The symptoms sound like poor isolation between the digitizer and something metallic in the chassis (happened to read about a similar situation with another phone). Not having a 535, I'm not able to do any tests. https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/fixing-the-ghost-touch-grounding-issue-once-and-for-all-hint-it-was-never-a-software-problem.186235/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1239400-what-is-wrong-with-lumia-535-touchscreens/#findComment-596680938 Share on other sites
francescob
What other cheap phone is going to save xmas then? The 630 beside a slightly faster SoC is a pretty bad downgrade. And the 735 is 80? more and it doesn't even have an official cover (only chinese eBay/Amazon Marketplace stuff made with only-God-knows-what-chemicals). nosense
Bought 2 lumia 530 at best buys for $35.00 each and android moto g for 150.00 for Christmas gifts. Good selection for budget phones this year. francescob
There are plenty of budget windows and android phones on Amazon Some older 520's are still available also if they have to be windows os The problem is that the gift was supposed to replace a 520, the 530 beside a SoC with more (but slower) cores is a complete downgrade over the 520 for which apparently there isn't any worthy replacement except for the Moto G or 735 that are far more expensive. BooBerry
Are you sure it not a bad lot/shipment? Got two this week and they work great. If anything they are very responsive. francescob
Maybe you should have gotten a 525? Isn't that just a 1GB version of the 520? Also I've never saw it on sale, it's likely only for China, Brazil or other countries where those phones are considered "high-end" and those little details can make an huge difference in sales. Are you sure it not a bad lot/shipment? The last review I read about it mentioned it was an extremely unresponsive phone (and gave it an awful score) so they likely had the a version with those issues too. I think it's a pretty widespread issue since I've seen english threads, italian threads and that video is apparently vietnamese. JustGeorge
I recently returned an 830 due to touchscreen problems. Neither the search button or pinch/zoom worked with a screen protector installed. That is a stupid problem to have. I figured all the reports of the issue were isolated and not widespread, but the 830 I bought for someone at work also had a finicky search button. Between the 535, 830 and 1520 screen problems, Microsoft really needs to find out whats going on and get it handled. HTC has the only decent flagship WP offering this year and it doesn't have expandable storage, which takes it off the table for me. I'm still hoping this is fixable with a software update, but not holding my breath. I liked the 830 a lot despite the screen nonsense. francescob
I've found this reddit post that say that every phone seems to be affected including those reviewed and that a fix is on the way, however there are people who don't seem to have the issue so it really starts looking more like an hardware problem. George P Global Moderator Posted December 16, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted December 16, 2014 It's a software problem and a fix is coming, once they work this out the 535 is once again a very good option for it's price and hardware. I'll wait to see the same tests performed with the fix installed to see if it's a true fix or just an OnePlus-style mitigation, it's pretty hard to believe they didn't catch a software issue like that before the phone hit the shelves. francescob
Apparently the problem is still there even with the fix released yesterday. I hope somebody opens one and finally figures out what's the cause of the interference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tQPcYQAWU0 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1239400-what-is-wrong-with-lumia-535-touchscreens/#findComment-596693888 Share on other sites
francescob
Apparently there is a new hardware revision (5.0.0.0) that fixes the problem (the defective ones were revision 3.0.0.0). BooBerry
Lumia 535 Dual SIM display has a different behaviour to other Lumia phones in the following respect: You cannot zoom while taking a picture. Fingers should be more than 20mm apart to pinch or zoom when browsing websites or viewing pictures. Last month Microsoft started rolling out an update for its first Windows Phone without Nokia branding, the Lumia 535, to fix the widespread touchscreen issue. However, the update was only limited to single-SIM version of the smartphone. My friends one works fine i just disabled ease of use-automatic zoom/magnifer MrPringles, guydelup, zafum and 4 others 7 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1239400-what-is-wrong-with-lumia-535-touchscreens/#findComment-596754432 Share on other sites
