Mr. Bean's Holiday 2007 - imdb

This was the only remaining DVD in my Dad's possession when he passed away last month, so I watched it.

I've always 'Bean' a fan of this character, I grew up with watching him in the named TV show.

As good as I remembered it to be, although I kept expecting it to be Rat Race (imdb)...

Still, one for the archive and worth a watch if you've not seen it.

STAR TREK 2009 - imdb

I surprised myself by how much I enjoyed this. I'm not a fan of star wars/trek by any means, however Simon Pegg commented while on a talkshow saying he enjoyed playing the part in Star Trek.

Not that I'm a fan of Pegg either, but I thought it must have had a humorous side to it, so I went looking to watch it. I'm glad I did, and I've already purchased Star Trek - Into Darkness (imdb).

Lilo & Stitch 2002 - imdb

This was my girlfriend's favourite movie when we first started dating 10 years back. For some reason, I didn't enjoy the movie.

I think I was a bit dismissive of cartoon shows at that point, but did enjoy the likes of Shrek (imdb), Monsters Inc (imdb), Finding Nemo (imdb) and even Shark Tale (imdb).

We both sat down and watched this together again and surprisingly I did enjoy it. Tastes change over time or something.

Predestination (2014)

7/10

snipped your spoiler

Well that is the paradox isn't it

:)

I LOVED Predestination. It was a solid time travel movie.

It didn't baby you with the story. It didn't TELL you anything it just SHOWED you and let you work it out yourself. I LOVED THAT!

As for Interstellar. Visually it was beautiful but I found the story rather boring. It was just a generic time travel movie in the end, I was hoping for more from Nolan.

Interstellar wasn't a time travel movie.

Yes it was.

Coop used the tesseract to send the co-ordinates back to his past self. If he didn't do that he wouldn't be in the tesseract as he would never have gone to the secret NASA location. Thus there is a time travel/bootstrap paradox.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about that bit. Still not sure I'd define the whole movie as a time travel flick based on that one point though.

The reason I classify it as a time travel movie is because the whole movie builds around this mysterious "ghost" that is leaving binary patterns in the dust and on the hand of her watch which is all done via time travel bootstrapping from "the fifth dimension" that was created by the "future" humans.

Not to mention

the whole 'they are us from the future' thing is another time travel bootstrap mechanic in that how did those future humans survive the "blight" without knowing how to manipulate time and space like they are teaching us by creating the tesseract.

. ###### is crazy but still just a time travel movie.

American Sniper (2014)

7/10

I was a little bit disappointed to be honest. I expected more from Eastwood. It's miles away from the best war movies like Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now and such. Imo Fury was a better movie about war than this. American Sniper is not bad. It's relatively well directed and well acted specially Cooper. Action sequences are nicely done. But i found the movie to be soulless. I did not care about Kyle and Taya relationship because it did not look like they loved each other that much until the end. The movie focused way too much on Kyle too. We don't know much about the other guys and frankly i did not care about them they were just like a bunch of jersey fillers. Movie was not really grim either. We see a bunch of people getting killed by snipers but outside of that i think the emotion of those moments is not very well portrayed anyway not as well as other war movies. I dunno maybe the movie just did not work for me or I've seen to much war movies but i was like oh **** a kid just got killed cause his mom is crazy and gave him a grenade ... ok well who cares it sure looks like the guys don't that much? Even in Fury were half the guys really did not give a **** i felt like the bad things that happened were more tragic. Anyway not bad but a disappointment to me.

Creep

1.5/5

Incredibly frustrating found footage "horror" movie.

Honestly I was just getting angrier and angrier while watching it.

I really just cannot believe an individual can be so dumb/naive/gullible/helpless/

I am perplexed as to how it has scored so high on Rotten Tomatoes.

I liked the main actors character as well. That is the reason I gave it 1 point.

I gave it the other .5 as the first half hour seemed promising, and it just all went downhill into "only a dumb ass white person would do this" territory.

Terminator Genisys.

As a film that doesn't take itself too seriously I really did have a good laugh in a few places.  The CGI was spotty at best, the story .. well .. I never found it, and the majority of the acting very woody.  However, if you're a fan of the other Terminator films you'll get a kick out of it.

Yeah Spy was a lot better than I expected. I enjoyed the twists also.

It may be my dislike of overly American humour in films [no offence meant] but to me Spy was just pants

Given they said that the animatrons needed a "CPU processor" to become live I thought it rather odd that they risked taking Arnie was taken into the installation

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters - 10/10

I saw this for what I believe was the fourth time last night. Despite the fact that this has been edited into telling a story rather than being 100% truthful, it's still mind blowing how out of this world some of these characters are. Every second line from the movie is quotable.

Not only is it one of my favorite documentaries, it's one of my favorite movies in general. Remarkably enjoyable way to spend 80 minutes.

Just watched this... again

I've got a copy of it, but it's also on YouTube

Seems Billy Mitchell wasn't happy with the final edit lol
