+Warwagon MVC Posted January 13, 2015 MVC Share Posted January 13, 2015 The features of Windows 8 and Windows 10 are dead without one? To you they're dead but for some people they could care less. .. My main 4 monitor Windows 8.1 workstation is running on a local account. techbeck
That's what local accounts are for. I think the fact that Sign In with a without an account (not recommended) is listed at the bottom is what is bugging some. And the not recommended part. Makes people think is better to use a web account. Dot Matrix
No offense dude, but that's actually a good reason to stay 7, I'm not trying to start a flamewar, I just don't like the idea of having to use credentials logging in to some server everytime I want to use my pc, I only have log ins for a few sites, this one included where I have to log in, but then I don't social network neither There's more to a Microsoft account than desktops. They follow you to your phone, Xbox, etc. They're very beneficial. alternety
This has wandered rather far from my post. One more point. Have any of you looked at the resources consumed by AE Solitare. It is quite excessive. One wonders just what they are doing with that bandwidth and cpu. If you have a WP phone, xbox, and windows based tablet. Sure they are. But many people dont stick to one platform for everything. I like my XBOX, Windows, and android phone/tablet. I use linux as well and an older macbook. These are just things MS is doing to get more people on the Win platform. I understand why they are doing it. Its business. But doesnt mean people have to like/agree with it. I get that, sync everything at once, kinda like stuff on android phones, I do see the potential benefit, like using a google account, but I don't have one of them outside a random youtube video, when age restriction warnings hit Don't get me wrong, I'm not a technophobe, and like 8+ I'll probably buy 10, but one weak password... firey
Not looking to hard then. Local.PNG I've never seen that. I always see -> Setup Wireless Connection -> Sign in or create microsoft account. There is no other option. Only way not to is to go back 3 steps, disable wireless then continue forward. techbeck
Yes? And I'm not sure what it is you're saying? How is an MS account keeping you from other services? Wow, really? You mention it is beneficial to have a Win account to sync between an xbox, phone, and other MS devices. I said that not everyone lives in the MS world alone and a lot users use a variety of different platforms. Not everyone bleeds MS and thus benefits from syncing info from different devices. Dot Matrix
This has wandered rather far from my post. To make a long story short, Microsoft kept a lot of older components around for a lot longer than they should have. Windows XP was a largely legacy OS, even at launch. Even with the codebase cleanup of Vista/7, and the redesign of 8/8.1, Windows is still being flat footed by younger more agile operating systems that don't have any legacy baggage hanging off them. To keep up, Microsoft needs to transform Windows into an OS that is just as agile, which means shedding what you can. That includes shedding games, which now can be found an installed back through the app store. Stoffel
I love my MS account. Re-installing Windows 8.1 takes half the time now that I use my MS Account. Startscreen is set up like it was before, all my pwds from IE are still there, my bookmarks, .... Mail app is set up automatically with the MS Account, Onedrive linked and I have all my files ready. +Anarkii Subscriber² Posted January 13, 2015 Subscriber² Share Posted January 13, 2015 The only thing that I want in Windows 10 is the simple 'add/remove programs' that is in the current Control Panel. Just a nice simple select the program your looking for and install it/remove it. Everything else, Windows 10 has absolutely nailed in regards to UI. I'm sure we'll see refinements as they're provided with feedback from insiders and partners - from what it appears from an outsider Microsoft is going all out in terms of getting the fit and finish right - the seamless transition from online to offline, from phone to tablet to desktop without the jarring experience - learn how to do something on the phone and apply that knowledge more or less to the laptop. If Windows 10 turns out to be everything there has been talked about then they might win a long time Mac user to the Windows fold. +Anarkii 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1242980-two-more-changes-i-would-like-to-see-in-win-10/page/2/#findComment-596715398 Share on other sites
