ansel
Earlier today changed the icon for my snes emulator, snes9x. Later today, i download the Runtime Package for RPG Maker VX Ace, so I could play games made by that program, but included in the download was a file called "Setup-1" using the icon i changed my emulator icon to. The file, when run is simply the snes9x program itself. The file type was specified as a "Snes9x ROM." I think this thing is replacing something needed to perform the setup, as it says that it needs to find certain files to keep going, and that they should be in the folder where this wierd file is, but the needed files are not there. What the heck is going on?! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1245400-resource-hacker-downloading-random-files-inside-other-downloads/ Share on other sites
+virtorio MVC Posted February 1, 2015 MVC Share Posted February 1, 2015 I don't 100% follow what you're talking about. The .bin file format has been associated with the SNES emulator you're using. If you changed the icon for that program using resource hacker, any files associated with that program are going to display that icon. To run the setup program, extract Setup-1.bin and setup.exe from the zip file to the same directory (e.g. a temporary folder on your Desktop) and run setup.exe. setup-1.bin contains information used by the setup program, and just happens to use the .bin file extension, the same extension that some SNES ROMs use.
