cbs The Walking Dead's David Morrissey joins Halle Berry's Extant

David Morrissey is joining the cast of Halle Berry's CBS series Extant.

The former Walking Dead actor has been cast in a recurring role in the science fiction programme's second season.

Extant stars Berry as astronaut Molly Woods, who alters the course of the human race's history by returning pregnant from a solo space mission.

Morrissey will be playing global security expert General Tobias Shepherd, who has a complicated personal history with Molly.

The actor is a veteran of UK television shows Blackpool, Doctor Who, True Love and Red Riding.

Extant is undergoing creative restructuring for season two, with Berry and Jeffrey Dean Morgan leading a mostly new cast.

CBS will air the second season of Extant, which is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, this summer.
