timster
Tonight, Verizon Wireless has pushed out a new PDF data sheet detailing the Lumia Denim and Windows Phone 8.1.1 updates that are long overdue for the neglected Lumia Icon. Verizon previously had missed the Lumia Cyan update, but are now wrapping Cyan and Denim up into one update that was due in "early 2015". The document is quite explicit about the upgrade: "Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 for your Nokia Lumia Icon. Windows Phone 8.1 brings a host of new features and capabilities to your Lumia Icon, all designed to make your phone even more useful and personalized than ever before." The five-page document goes on to detail everything from Cortana to Action Center to the new look in the Store and more. Perhaps the best part is the Lumia Camera 5.0 notes and algorithm improvements, noted as: Edit/share images faster with simplified UI Sharper and lower noise video Improved color and picture in the dark Shorter latency with autofocus We do not want to get people excited too much, but from experience when Verizon publishes such a document, the update usually arrives within the next 24-hours. If we had to place bets, we would guess 1 pm ET either today or tomorrow (February 12) for the update. The document is dated as 2-11-15, so that should be a hint. Needless to say, as Lumia Icon owners ourselves, we are quite excited. The ultimate irony? By tomorrow, the Lumia Icon may be the only Lumia in the US with the proper Lumia Denim update. However, since Verizon phased the device out from sales, you can no longer buy the phone from them.
