+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted April 7, 2015 Subscriber² Share Posted April 7, 2015 Yes, you read that correctly. Instead of Adobe Reader XII they named it 'Adobe Acrobat Reader DC', where DC stands for 'Document Cloud'. More information here. PGHammer
Wait edit PDF with the reader? Several sorts of PDFs are actually fill-in forms (such as certain government forms) - this was supported in Adobe Reader starting with X. It is, in fact, the last advantage Adobe Reader has over Microsoft Reader when it comes to PDFs in Windows 8 or later. br0adband
After many years of being an Adobe Reader supporter/user, I finally just gave up on it late last year and switched to using SumatraPDF for my PDF reading duties. I know some browsers can do PDFs natively but I prefer to have local copies of such files in all situations (so I download them whenever I encounter them). It loads in the blink of an eye (far cry from Adobe Reader's bloated infrastructure even with tweaks), is deadly efficient and small and just gets it done well enough for my needs now. Just 'cause storage space is cheap and computers are fast(er) nowadays doesn't mean code needs to be so incredibly bloated and wasteful which is exactly what happened with Reader over the years. This new "document cloud" crap, I'll pass, thanks. Ace
Keep it simple. Isn't that what Adobe have done? But lets keep talking about the ridiculousness of the frequency of updates and the requested reboots that should be unnecessary in 2015, because it really is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as someone defending it. jasondefaoite and FiB3R 2 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1252682-adobe-acrobat-reader-dc-released/#findComment-596810256 Share on other sites

Almost as ridiculous as someone defending it. Updates every few months and no reboots. I even went from XII to DC without a problem. Adobe certainly deserves its share of critiscm but people should stop complaining about stuff from years ago. Also the new version seems to be faster and slimmer (not that I ever had any issues with the last few versions).
