MikeM97
During my tests the generic key allowed me to do a clean install, but it wouldn't activate Windows 10, and even Gabe said that there is no path to do a clean install yet, just an upgrade from previous Windows, so your best bet is to wait till MS gives out the ISOOkay. RGC1940
Windows 10240 is a mega-disappointment. If this is really the RTM build, then W10 OS will not be my default OS. I shall stick with Ubuntu or Windows 8.

patseguin Global Moderator Posted July 17, 2015 Global Moderator Share Posted July 17, 2015 I'm pretty satisfied if this is the RTM. I haven't found any bugs and it feels pretty polished. Does anyone know if the cursor issue is an OS thing or graphics driver thing? Aergan 1 Share

Does anyone know if the cursor issue is an OS thing or graphics driver thing? I've confirmed that using 353.50 that Windows Update forcibly installs causes the cursor issue. Using the latest WHQL driver (353.30) from NVIDIA fixes this. Edit: Apparently 353.50 was pulled from Windows Update. Probably due to the weird issues it caused. patseguin, Aergan and CactuzJak 3 Share
scumdogmillionaire
I like this build, except Universal apps are really unstable. I don't know if its just the platform or the guys writing these apps at MS, but some of them are just terrible. Photos crashes after being open about 10 seconds, Mail tile doesn't clear read messages, it only updates itself when a new email comes in. MSN tiles (Weather, News) haven't worked in months. xendrome
Let's keep the discussion to the actual 10240 build, and the apps that comes with it as they are updated/bugs. If you have a problem with UI/3rd party apps, feel free to make another topic.
PGHammer
If that's the case then it sounds like the audio driver crashed for you, if it happens again instead of doing a reboot, I think you can just restart the audio service in the services msc, I forget the name of it exactly, maybe just Windows Audio service or something to that extent. See if the sound comes back after that. Audio drivers (non-HDMI) have been problematical in practically all OSes - not just Windows - as of the past few years. Even the SoundCore3D (Creative) driver now has a service associated with it, which was NOT the case prior to 10.
Seahorsepip Veteran Posted July 17, 2015 Veteran Share Posted July 17, 2015 Installing windows 8.1, wondering if I can upgrade to win 10 insider again. If not I'll do a cleqn install of build 10162 since that worked before.
Active.
What I'm wondering: Are Metro apps ever going to resize smoothly? Unless this is an issue with my graphics drivers the size of the window content doesn't keep in perfect sync with the size of the actual window, so you get cheap-looking artifacts like this while resizing. I would have hoped that a modern UI framework would prevent that from happening: FunkyMike 1 Share
PGHammer
Thank you! I will download the WHQL driver when I get home. 353.30 IS a WHQL driver - it is, in fact, the driver available from NVidia (I originally installed the driver while on 10162) for GTX550 and above. If you have the old GeForce Experience, htough, update that instead (there WAS a change there post-353.30 - GFE is now at 2.5.3).
Guest
Well, I'm now running 10240. The OS seems fairly stable but everything associated with it is not so much. I'm comparing that even to the release candidates of Windows 7. Granted it's not the core OS I'm complaining about (well not necessarily) but I've noticed a few odd graphical glitches around window frames when running with the AMD Windows 10 beta (yes, I know it's a beta but like I said before, I've never seen problems this bad with a fairly mature beta) driver and Edge seems really buggy, tabs becoming unresponsive, pages freezing etc. Quite surprised really, I've seen a lot of good feedback, some negative feedback too. I'm an optimist though so I thought it'd be solid! Very disappointed that there is so little coherence in style now too. Probably the worst mashup ever, explorer ribbon bar icons for example. The stop sharing button, etc. Multiple types of context menus all over the place. Just hoping the updates to this sort of stuff become a regular thing. Windows Update was pushing 353.50 to people for a while but they took it down due to issues. 353.30 is the driver he'll need to get to resolve the cursor issues. Buendia
Win + G shortcut for opening game bar doesn't work any any games (at least the ones I have played: The Witcher 3 and COD4). Guest
That's just an AMD driver issue, did you install the latest? Catalyst 15.7 Is this the latest? It was noted on the download page that it was a beta version. Same keeps happening with my intel card, 4k display is kinda hard on my gma 4600 Only running at 1200p When it does happen, the taskbar, start menu and action centre lose transparency aswell, and it doesn't return until I restart. Over all GPU acceleration seems to keep working though.
