[OFFICIAL] Windows 10 (Build 10.0.10240) discussion & upgrade experience

Anyone else notice the live tile for the Weather App is finally working?  I booted up my Windows 10 VM today to install the newest patch.  I'm assuming that the Windows Store updated apps (including weather) while I had the VM running in the background for a while.

I've been having a problem since early builds. My machine has a SSD drive used solely for cache purposes and I have the Intel RST driver installed so that Windows 8.1 starts within seconds.
I made a dual boot and Windows 10 has an extremely slow startup, just like my Windows 8.1 installation when Intel RST drivers are not installed.
I tried to switch the HD management inside the BIOS to AHCI but both OS's will not boot.

Maybe it's because of the dual boot settings, but if this keeps on going, an upgrade to Windows 10 would be unbereable, since the startup problems stabilizes within 3 or 4 MINUTES.

Any thoughts?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before,

I got a 1080p display and I have problem with Scaling in 125% dpi mode, some of the menus and texts are blurry and fuzzy which I could fix with compatibility options in file properties, but others like Device Manager and Computer Management can't be fixed this way. it's really annoying.

Has anyone else got this problem and how to fix this?

A screenshot would be good, but odds are it's just that DPI unaware apps are getting scaled, and short of the devs fixing the app there's nothing that can be done.

sucessfully upgraded windows 7 ultimate 32bit to windows 10 pro 32bit with no activation issues.

The only issue im having is pairing my kinivo BTD-400 Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter to my vizio home theater system.

It is recognized and says connected but nothing...

edit: bluetooth works on my headphones. looks like I have to tamper the vizio system for abit to get it to work.

1 Problem.

Windows 10 update feels like a castrated bastard of it's former self.

My installed version is En-Us, My keyboard and regional settings are En-Us.

But Windows Update insists and auto downloads En-Gb OCR Language features.

Why Microsoft? This whole Auto-downloading of updates is so copying Apple. Why should I waste GBs of data on things I will never use?

Are they going to stick with the same boot screen as 8? I assume so this late in the game.

Mail doesn't appear to be working like 8 as well. I'm not getting any notifications from Gmail or Outlook.

Starting to get very...very angry over here.

I go to "Updates and Security" and the settings app freezes. Like, seriously. If I do it in safemod, it doesn't freeze, but it loads infinitely. EVERY OTHER SETTING sub-app thingy works. It's just updates and security...so I can't downloads updates. I JUST GOT ALL MY software installed. I am seriously skipping 10 if I have to reformat another god damn time. This is horse ######. All it does is freeze, and disappear some 10 seconds later.

Edit: Event view screenshot.

What?!  Apple updates does not auto downloading by default.    If you want auto download/updates, you turn it on yourself.

I have iPad/iMac.   They don't auto download or update.  I manually update them whenever I can.

My dear friend, if you turn off iOS updates, it will still download the whole update file once these 2 conditions are satisfied.

1. iOS device is connected to mains power

2. iOS device is connected to a WiFi access point.

After the update is downloaded, begins the nagging game for you to update. Then a fancy red notification remains over the settings app reminding you of pending update. If you delete the update file, it will re-download the update file once the above 2 conditions are met again.

But Microsoft has gone 1 step further with Windows 10 and they auto download and auto-install all updates even if they don't belong to your region.

I cant wait any longer. gonna upgrade tonight from windows 7 to windows 10.

hopefully i dont lose my free upgrade, but as i own a retail copy of windows 7 ultimate full, i should be covered regardless since they dont seem to be machine dependent (according to the license free upgrade details i've read thus far).

i've owned an iphone for years as my primary device, and no that is not how it works.

It always pops up and notifies me that there is an update, and asks if i want to download and update, which i can chose not to.

Functions the exact same way on desktop within itunes.

Well, keep an eye on it once iOS 9 update is out. Ofcourse you can choose not to install it, but 2 GB of downloaded update file will remain on the phone.

Is there anyway to change the color of live tiles to a custom color?
I know there is way to do it which will change most app tiles to the same color, but say I want to change the store bg color back to green, or the settings app bg color back to purple? Can that be done?

That upgrade from windows 7 ultimate to windows 10 took less than 30 min which was surprising since i read reports of it taking over an hour.

Seems to be working great so far :D

Why exactly?... there's really no point in this.. you don't have to restart right away... this kind of thinking is just getting ridiculous at this point from standard users. A lot of grumbling, but no real reason why.

I agree with him a bit,if the PC has some problems at restart,we better avoid that stuff.

Tile colors are either defaulted to the chosen accent color or are preset by the developer, you can't set them per app on your own.  Who knows if that changes though?   One of the arguments against the Windows 8 start screen was the "fisher price rainbow color tiles", it's kind of funny now that they set it to one color, which was a request by users, others want to start making it different colors again.

There was some app, back for Windows 8.x that let you make tiles for desktop apps, like games mostly, instead of them using the default desktop icon.  So maybe there can be an app to tweak tiles and their colors, but I don't know if it'll work for winrt apps which preset those or not, guess we'll have to wait and see.

I searched "windows 10" on the page, doesn't appear what you mention. Maybe because I'm already on Windows 10?

But hey, it works, great!
