PsYcHoKiLLa
Not sure what the story is for Insiders. Didn't Gabe say there'd be a surprise on launch for us? Who knows. Insiders needs to have gone through builds 10158/10159 at least to be able to continue using it while signed in with the e-mail you registered for, if you didn't keep up to date using those builds then you won't be able to install using your insider e-mail. Tiago Pinheiro
So, I was an Insider and I just used media creation tool to make an ISO. I did a clean install with that ISO and now I have a Windows 10 copy permanently activated and I didn't use any key while installing. And I'm not on Insider Preview... I think I just got Windows 10 for free without any kind of key.
MikeChipshop Member Posted July 29, 2015 Member Share Posted July 29, 2015 The thing is, Windows 10 was never downloaded. I just turned on my computer this morning, and the icon was gone; no update to force. Exactly the same as me.I ended up following the advice of another user on this forum to force Windows to grab the download and update the system. For clarity, i had no hidden folder and the flag had disappeared from my system since yesterday.
DemonicHawk
If anyone is still struggling with the 80240020 error, try changing your date to the 30th. I changed the date, restarted, re-ran the command line that's been floating around and the install prompt came up.
Dinggus
I downloaded the ISO from MSDN and updated an office laptop (ThinkPad running OEM Windows 7). Update was successful and Windows 10 Pro was automatically activated although when running wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey it didn't show a key. So, you downloaded the ISO manually and upgraded via USB?

Ravensky
Same here. Also noticing that the drivers aren't working as they're supposed to. Things in Battlefield 4 and Team Fortress 2 aren't fully rendered the way they should. Mine is working fine with BF4 and TF2, looks fantastic, did you update Windows 10 after the install? I'm using an Nvidia GTX 780ti Classified video card.
TAZMINATOR
Well this sucks, even changed my date to the 30th and no go. You can not do that. It doesn't work that way. You can go to Microsoft website to download ISO then choose upgrade option.
PsYcHoKiLLa
Umm....Is this Windows 10 or an old OSX?! http://i58.tinypic.com/2v83c54.png I would post the pic but that's not working...yeah...whose bright idea was it to upgrade the forum right around Windows 10 launch? lol MikeChipshop 1 Share

PsYcHoKiLLa
Ready to Install http://i62.tinypic.com/nbdumt.png Anyone not got the alert yet, might want to try the process here (I think someone posted it earlier too), I had already downloaded the bits, this kicked it into life http://goodereader.com/blog/tablet-slates/how-to-force-download-windows-10-on-your-pc-and-tablet/attachment/untitled-5-
Thrackerzod
I reserved Windows 10 on my HP Stream notebook and it still says I'll be notified when it's ready, so I went ahead and made a USB flash drive installer and when I started setup it is now asking me for a product key. What? I'm starting to think they don't want to give me Windows 10.
Brian M. Veteran Posted July 29, 2015 Veteran Share Posted July 29, 2015 Why not just use the reset option in recovery? a. To test it! b. Because my tablet had a 5GB (out of 32GB) recovery partition that i no longer need.

Mandosis
I noticed that universal apps on my taskbar now all have a background. Is that some bug I picked up from the update or did that get changed through app updates before release?

I ran setup from Windows but it doesn't give me an upgrade option. It says "Preparing for setup" and then immediately asks me for a key. Thanks though, I'll just wait and see if Windows Update will finally start downloading it, no big rush. Edited July 29, 2015 by Harpo

BinaryData
There weren't any updates available Have you downloaded the latest package from NVidia? I did that installed it, but it failed, then I ran a check for new updates and it found it. Have you also restarted? I've notice that the Windows 10 updates are super slow to be available. protocol7
The drama continues. After the Windows Update method failed, I used the iso I made from the esd file that WU had downloaded. It upgraded fine but now it won't activate. Looking with ProduKey, my Windows 10 Home key is different from the BIOS key in my laptop. The BIOS key is rejected outright and the Windows 10 key I've apparently been given doesn't work ("we couldn't activate with this product key"). Obviously my laptop had an activated copy of 8.1 when I started this.
Kierax2016
Mine won't activate!, I just upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium all legit. And now in system information Windows 10 shows as inactive, when I attempt to activate it fails the attempt.
