Billaguana
So, I just put up a new wireless network and disabled SSID broadcasting. Phone connected just fine, desktop just fine, then I moved to my test Win 10 laptop and it couldn't, for the life of it, establish a connection with the hidden network. I ended up having to manually add the connection to the list of saved WiFi networks before Win 10 was able to successfully find and connect to it. The network connection "wizard" thing that is standard in every Windows wouldn't work for this particular setup. Anyone else have this issue when connecting? It connects just fine to networks broadcasting their SSID. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1262994-hidden-ssids/ Share on other sites
Obi-Wan Kenobi
This says it's for XP, but it still applies today: "Having SSID broadcast disabled essentially makes your Access Point invisible unless a wireless client already knows the SSID, or is using tools that monitor or 'sniff' traffic from an AP's associated clients."
