+BudMan MVC Posted July 18, 2015 MVC Share Posted July 18, 2015 "yes, but pro, which is meant for workstations to start with, should also have it" Well guess MS doesn't feel the same way as you.. Anyone that has to admin any number of users or has done so in the pass can for sure understand MS dilemma here.. Users don't install security patches. Users don't pay attention to the blinking tray icon saying install me or reboot to finish installing updates. Then they wonder why when they do click the shiny blinking AD that told them they were the 1 millionth visitor so they won a million dollars they get infected.. How about you didn't install the security patches from 6 months ago that prevents exploit xyz, etc.. So sure take it out of their hands and treat them like babies -- if your not going to install the security patches, we are just going to do it automatically.. You don't like it - run another OS Nobody is forcing you to use windows, or windows 10 for that matter.. Windows 7 is viable until 2020.. Or just run Enterprise for that matter. From my very limited research, and lack of details that I can find the new windows update for business will work on pro.. So you could always go that route to limit what installs or doesn't install.. So as typical people complaining before even actual using the product, etc. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1264248-windows-10-windows-update/page/2/#findComment-596930876 Share on other sites

So as typical people complaining before even actual using the product, etc. why even have pro then? Pro was the business version for ever, just ditch pro and make Windows and Windows Enterprise... see the point I'm getting at here? I just don't get what the point of pro is now then and btw I agree with the users need to install updates thing, I just don't agree at the level they enforced it at... home user yes 100% force them, pro which is in a LOT of businesses and managed, why? or set it as default with the option via GPO to turn it off if needed Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1264248-windows-10-windows-update/page/2/#findComment-596930890 Share on other sites
Mockingbird
Are the computers on the Current Branch (CB) or the Current Branch for Business (CBB)? +BudMan MVC Posted July 18, 2015 MVC Share Posted July 18, 2015 Again there is windows update for business which can be used with pro - that will allow you to control what or what does not get installed. Use that if your concerned with what is being updated..
