So I decided to listen to some music on the new music app, but it has the strangest bug... when I minimize the app, the sound stops. I think music continues playing, because when I bring the program back up, the sound continues from where it where it would be in a few seconds from where I minimized Groove.

Anyone else have this issue?

EDIT: And just as suddenly, the issue went away. I'm rather confused, so I'm forced to assume space magic interceded on my behalf.

Try turning off exclusive mode in the sound control panel. Some applications (like Steam) like to lock the device and cause it to mute other applications when they're not in focus.

Didn't solve the issue. I'm very confused now. I left feedback with MS about it, but seeing as how Windows 10 has hit RTM, I doubt it'll be fixed before then.

perhaps restore to clean build(recovery > reset pc)

and see if it get fixed,

(it is working fine here, build 10240)

It's possible, isn't one of the big features of Win10 that things like the Music app can now be updated independent of the OS?

I'm pretty sure this has to do with battery saver.  I noticed my Groove stopped playing in the background when I was at 12%.  Once I disabled Battery Saver, killed and restarted Groove, it worked again.  Guess I'm leaving battery saver off from now on!

Battery saver should allow you to set apps to be ignored by it and keep working even when it's on, instead of turning the whole thing off.  Unless that's just a option in mobile and not on desktop?

I think, it's by design. Modern apps (aka Windows Apps) stop (or pause) when minimized. Can't confirm for all modern apps.

it used to be the case before. (Windows 8).

but it doesn't anymore. (in Windows 10)

the audio keep playing.

Even in Windows 8, or maybe 8.1, the music app could keep playing, it just had to support the background audio API.   I think changes since then for Windows 10 will allow for apps to stay active when minimized longer depending on device.  I always felt that the system should be smart enough to know it's on main AC power and not battery, so thus there was no need to suspend apps that are minimized and not in the foreground.

Heck, they could even check on resources, unless you're running low on RAM there's no need to suspend and page out of memory.

Good day technophiles, I experienced the problem too but I think I found a way to solve this. I read through some posts where people are giving up on Battery Saver, Battery Saver can remain active without affecting Groove Music. To enjoy playing music while Groove Music is minimized do the following:

1.Go to "Settings"

2.Click on "System"

3."Battery Saver" then "Battery Saver Settings"

Under "Allowed Apps"

4.Click "Add"

5.Select Groove Music from the list off Apps.

6.Also click on an option above " Battery Saver Settings" labelled "Battery Use"

7.Look for "Change Background App Settings" then turn on "Groove Music"

Done!!!

Thank you for reading through. Remember to restart your Groove Music if it was already playing music!!!
