Tiagop717
Hey guys. I've been an Insider for a while and it has been interesting to install new builds from time to time. The only issue for me is the upgrade process, which takes a while and resets some settings. My question is, after Windows 10 "final" version is released, will the updates for insiders be in the same way like now (upgrading build to build using the upgrade process) or will we receive updates through Windows Update like in Windows 7/8.1? I think it's going to be tiresome if we need to upgrade like we do now for ever... +Warwagon MVC Posted July 15, 2015 MVC Share Posted July 15, 2015 I don't know why you can't just exit the insider program from the update window and activate using your WIndows 7 or 8 key. x-byte
As explained in this blog post: http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2015/07/09/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-10166/ All future updates will come via official channels. Meaning Windows Update. After Win10 is release there will only be incremental updates available for the public. When a new beta arrives, a new insider process will likely be available. Eric Veteran Posted July 15, 2015 Veteran Share Posted July 15, 2015 Because I don't have a key. You should be good as long as you don't mind being in a perpetual beta state, then. From what I understand you will continue to receive test builds but you would have to either buy a Windows 10 license or reinstall 7/8 to qualify for the free upgrade. PGHammer
Still, I like the option of remaining in the Insider program (at least in terms of Windows; I can hope that Office will allow the same option). As to why, that would be rather obvious - keeping current on Windows AND Office is frangible; you have to invest time and skull-sweat. (Programs such as Insider make investing both far easier.)
