keysteele
I've tried about 5 times already. It downloads , copies the files and the begins installation of the drivers and it always fails during the first reboot. Not sure what to do now. MDboyz
Post your machine spec. Also, you can try to take out all accessories leaving only keyboard and mouse. ThePhoenix
Had this before on the older builds, do a disk cleanup, a proper "administrative" one and then run a sfc /scannow those two seemed to do the trick when it did the same to me, that being said not had that problem for the last few builds so not sure if it'll help. keysteele
Post your machine spec. Also, you can try to take out all accessories leaving only keyboard and mouse. After trying your suggestion it worked. sinetheo
After trying your suggestion it worked. Thanks Too late. You missed it. MS shutdown their activation servers if you did not upgrade by last week. You can tell by going into pc settings and will notice your copy is no longer activated. You may get another opportunity July 29th. MS did this to my VM as well Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1265240-cant-upgrade-from-build-10166-to-th1-professional-10240/#findComment-596932702 Share on other sites

MDboyz
Glad it fixed your issue. Important thing is to leave all accessories out when you upgrading the OS. That will help to eliminate any issue. If something happens, you have only motherboard, cpu, video card or memory to deal with. After trying your suggestion it worked. Jumeck
I thought being a part of the Windows 10 Tech Preview program would make upgrading to the "final" version of 10 easier. My Surface 3 Pro has been stuck on build 11049 since I installed it in March! I couldn't find any solution to get Windows Update working afterward, and my system wouldn't allow a recovery or restore. Since July 29th I've spent 2 days attempting to upgrade. The problem I had was a corrupt system registry command. The system registry editor was set update as "fbi impressive", but once changed to "TH1" Windows Update began downloading and installing the current version of Windows 10. The Windows 10 Technical Preview has been the worst beta experience I've participated in, which I should have anticipated considering the hole Microsoft had to dig it's way out of with Windows 8.
