I have checked in Windows update settings, advanced, but the option to join is greyed out. Any idea what is causing this? I also get a message at the top of the screen that says "Some settings are manged by your organization." This is a custom build system, clean install of 10240.

Check your Feedback & diagnostics section in the settings under the Privacy.

Make sure you have the first option is selected...

If Never is selected, then you need to change it to Automatically or Always

If not work, you might have used Shutup10 (or whatever you used) to disable something which caused the button to greyout.

As I understand it, unless you joined before the final build of Windows 10 was released (10240), they aren't taking any more Insider Preview users.  There's no joining now.
