rageagainstmachine Posted November 20, 2015 Author Share Posted November 20, 2015 Well as I understand these filter the phone at the master so broadband signals are not allowed to transmit to any internal house extension socket and hence remove potential sources of noise. I believe they also isolate the ring wire from broadband signal to. I belive bt have their own type too. Thanks You're always better off going with a master filter especially if you're going to use VDSL but that being said it isn't the cure to crappy wiring so I'd also check where the demark (it's a thick black cable coming from the street) is and follow the twisted pair lead to from there because in my parents home the line had been sliced and diced so many times that after we cleaned it the ADSL connection went from around 6,000 to 14,000 just by getting rid of all the extra hops off the cable. yakumo Posted November 20, 2015 Share Posted November 20, 2015 That depends on where the crappy wiring is, it can absolutely save you from most (all?) extension problems.Anecdotally I had great results with an ADSLNation XTE-2005 master filter in 3 locations 150 miles apart, with ADSL I got much much better sync rates and stability than with a BT socket. And either completely trounces having dongles on every single extension, that also seem fail all the time and need replacing.For BT Fibre with VDSL to the home though I've stuck with what BT supplied so far though as that's seemed fine.
