Is it safe to buy a motherboard from newegg?

I was looking at a Core-i7-4790K on Newegg earlier today as my first jump into Intel processors in 17 years (I've been a dedicated AMD user since 1999) .. yours may just make me choose the one you got instead. Yours is way cheaper price-wise ($115~$125 less) and the performance difference won't be noticeable. It's not like I'd be calculating pi or anything with it.

Nice, solid CPU you picked. May it serve you well for many years to come.(Y)

Newegg has a bundle for a motherboard with I5 that I want plus other goodies. $510, plus with their bundle they throw in an HDD.

Microcenter has a similar bundle, the board they offer is a bit more (they're out of stock on the same board newegg has).

Reading reviews from people though, if you get the board with bent pins, your SOL for however long it takes.

Microcenter though comes to $535 with the same goodies as I would get from newegg. Now with microcenter, I'd get the replacement plan which is $20 more, so $556. I also have to pay for tolls to get there and gas...It's about an hour away. I figure if I get it from there, I can just drive there and exchange it for issues.

All in all, I'd like to spend the least, however, does anyone else think the extra cost is worth it for just going in person?

Please don't self format your text. It's unreadable on the Darkside theme.

Mos, might be worth cleaning up.

So newegg shipped everything yesterday.  I get two boxes today, two tomorrow and one Friday.

For some reason fedex wont let me have it held at their location, so everything will have to sit out until i get there. Hmm.

I feel your pain. Im nervous to order big things online for this reason. Usually I try to time my orders so they'll arrive when I have a day off.

I've literally bought hundreds of motherboards from Newegg. Only had one with bent pins. And I was able to bend those back myself. I would be more concerned about buying something retail, having worked retail and knowing how stuff gets unloaded from trucks (aka thrown).

Hello,

I have never had a problem with a motherboard that I ordered from Newegg.  I will point out, though, that Newegg recently allowed other vendors to sell through their online store.  I always choose Newegg as the seller, though, as if there ever is an issue I would rather deal directly with Newegg and not a third-party reseller.

Yeah usually though they have no issue with holding the stuff.

I do 10 5 hour days. And with the snow this weekend coming I doubt Saturday would have been good haha.

Can you bend them back correctly? How? Someone said something about using like a Credit Card to line them up.

one of the reasons I quit buying stuff from newegg, I like the service and never had a problem with the products but I use to pick things up at the mailing depot all the time and last time I got told it was newegg's policy not to allow the customer to pick it up there now, (not the shippers) so I switched to amazon and have not had any issue with shipping since.

I've never had a problem with delivery. In fact, nearly everything I order from them comes the next day regardless of delivery speed I pick. I do have everything delivered to my office so I don't have to worry about it being outside my house, however.

I don't mind small stuff delivered to work, but In the past bigger items I would have shipped to my home, come home and grab the miss delivered slip and go to the USP\FedEx and pick it up, and the last time I went there they said newegg had a policy it had to be delivered and could not be picked up at the shipping place (still have a old E-mail chain from Newegg going back and forth with CS with me asking why it's ok for me to tell them to leaving it on the porch was ok, but asking to pick it up at the shipping place was not (pretty much got a cut and paste answer every time)
