HDD partition not accessible.

Recommended Posts

I have a Hitachi 750GB HDD internal in HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment Notebook.I put it in external enclosure and used it as USB HDD.I installed an SSD instead inside the laptop.

the HDD in enclosure as USB device was formatted to two partitions, the last one is inaccessible and windos csays(Please format drive).BTW Ubuntu says so too.

What tools can I diagnose/fix this situation?

why don't you just wipe that partition and create one big one.. Why would you want/need 2 partitions on some external usb disk?

Because he may have data on it that he'd like to retrieve before blowing away the partition? Or maybe he wants to split it into 3?

User: My computer is slow, could someone give me some advice for speeding it up? I have these 50 applications opening on startup.

Neowin: Get an SSD

the question is fairly precise and straight forward:  What tools can I diagnose/fix this situation (Non accessible partition)?

I am not a newbie.look at my profile,I don't need a tour. Just the name of the best program nowadays.

Your effort to prove me a newbie is not as useful as sharing the name of the needed app name.

"Irrelevant to the questiion:"

Sorry but it was right on point..  You make no mention that you even had anything needed to be recovered.  Until you posted that pic, had no idea it was even a ntfs partition or size of it, could of been the makers recovery partition, or a hidden partition with oem tools on it, etc.

Prove you a newbie??  No need, you have already proved you don't even know how to use freaking google...  Good luck with your search for have no idea what your wanting to accomplish.  Fix the partition, recover files? Both.. Fix would be to just delete it and start with new part or increase the size of your first one, etc.

If you believe the disk is damaged, I would suggest you validate it with the diagnostic tools from the maker of the disk.

Here is prob the best FREE recovery tool: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk

Good luck..
