Hum
I was mildly shocked to learn Windows 10 includes spyware. Really useful video: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1299328-privacy-lovers-this-should-be-required-viewing-for-windows-10/ Share on other sites
Dick Montage
Oh come on, how long have you been on Neowin? You're a long time member, a respected one some would say (including myself). You moved to Win10 recently and now you're spreading the same FUD that everyone else shared like a year ago. Thought you were better than that in fairness. +JHBrown Subscriber¹ Posted June 1, 2016 Subscriber¹ Share Posted June 1, 2016 Useful video. The way one defines spyware in regards to Windows 10 is personal. However, it is a fact Microsoft has pushed the boundaries with privacy in Windows 10, and has stepped on many toes along the the way. Also, we call it "telemetry" http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-disable-telemetry-and-data-collection-in-windows-10/ Also, it happens in 7 ate nine too. http://windowsitpro.com/windows-10/how-turn-telemetry-windows-7-8-and-windows-10 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1299328-privacy-lovers-this-should-be-required-viewing-for-windows-10/#findComment-597437506 Share on other sites
+Gary7 Subscriber² Posted June 1, 2016 Subscriber² Share Posted June 1, 2016 No one is happy with this, there is always Linux but then there is still the NSA and tons of other agencies that can log your every keystroke. So You are helpless . No one here is making fun of you HUM, at least I hope not. I am not. Trust me I tried every program and fix out there including messing with The Hosts file. Nothing really works. You can un install every app you don't want and stop them from running in the background but with Windows 10, your privacy is basically gone. Browsing habits? It's possible. The rest? Pfft. Not in any way that can't be turned off, and mostly related to Cortana, OneDrive, or the Store. Don't use them, no problems. "MS is stealing all our data!" is a gigantic load of crap that was spewed across the internet for page views. Noir Angel
If you really want to kill telemetry, use a tool like wintoolkit or ntlite to completely remove the package from the installation source. I've tested it, it's easy to do. Just remove this package and boom. No telemetry. Louisifer
Usage Statistics don't equal Spying, the long string in a database that represents your install cares not what porn you watch, which religion you are or your sexual orientation. all the statistics are used for is to determine trends within their software e.g. people use this function a lot lets evolve it or no one uses this function at all, we can remove it. With todays culture of 24 news that repeats the same news every 15mins and clickbait articles/videos everywhere on the internet I fear for the future. D: Sometimes features are innocent with their intent but that doesn't generate ad revenue now does it. -_- I let Microsoft have my statistics in the same way I vote, If I don't participate I cant help influence change. Also, since you were gone, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 all include the same telemetry, or what you guys call "spying," that 10 has. max22, Dick Montage, Anibal P and 1 other 4 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1299328-privacy-lovers-this-should-be-required-viewing-for-windows-10/#findComment-597439610 Share on other sites

trag3dy
It happens in every other "modern" OS too. This is neither new or interesting. The part that is interesting is that people all of a sudden care about it in Windows 10. I am sure Vista had something similar as well, heck I know XP did because we had XP Anti-Spy to disable a lot of the "spying."
