busdude
I just reloaded like i said earier. NAV got the Virus Updates dated 1.7.2004 and the same problem came right back. I would say its got something to do with those virus definitions. NicktheNorse
I'm having exactly the same problem, and so are several other users at OcUK (here)... we have all had AV2003 update within the past two days and the problem started after the update. so its definitely an AV problem. ive updated to the latest versions yet problem is still there. jtg
Don't forget about the transition effect setting that causes explorer to use 100% of the CPU after a right click. I don't know if MS has fixed that yet. chavo
Hey, I think I may have figured this out. It seems wierd but it may have something to do with Verisigns Certificates expiring. Try this -> Open Internet Properties deselect "Check for publisher's certificate revocation" under the Advanced Tab This should bet you back up to speed. Jelly2003
The reason why this is happening is posted on the front page: https://www.neowin.net/comments.php?category=main&id=16456. I feel so sorry for the people who needlessly formatted (im sure a lot of geeks have done just that). Its disgusting that all of these companies knew about it, yet didnt go to much effort to warn their users. If I had of formatted, I would have billed Verisign (or who ever it was at fault) for the time that it took me to set my PC back up. suprfli
i didn't format. i never out and out format when i KNOW that something is causing it. formatting is the lazy man's way out. :( i would've done a system restore but i prefer to find the application causing the issue rather than going back in time and not knowing the root cause.
