Firstly, no - I do not think that anyone singular person's mind will be changed by seeing a wristband.  It's not about that - that is small thinking.

Secondly, no - I've never once suggested deportation.  I believe in prosecution and punishment of course, but I'm not going to argue either way on deportation as it's not on the table.

The the use of These bands will not do anything. Maybe in Chicago where there are 40-60 shootings per weekend placing a wristband on every Chicagoland person will stop this. I don't think so. How is the wristband going to empower the female population of Sweden to stop the attacks? Talking with the offenders may, group meetings may but wearing what amounts to a Red Badge of Courage may make the women fight back  or defend themselves. Every offender should be jailed for a long time.

Let's say we have a room of 100 people.  25 of them think it's OK to molest another person.  Let's give a random sample of these people the bands...

 

The overall feeling of "it's not acceptable" in the room has risen, so let's say now only 20 think it's acceptable.  The prevalent message that any one person gets that it's not acceptable has just become stronger.  So maybe 2 more people's opinions change to "not acceptable".

 

So now it's 18 out of 100.  The process repeats and repeats over time until it tends towards a much lower percentage.

 

That's how you influence a mass of people.  Look, you always bring up "Hey I was a cop, so I know"...  EVERY single police department does community activities.  Is it generally the thugs, the low-lifes and the criminals who turn up?  No of course not - but the process is about creating a culture within the mass that actions are not acceptable, and you start to do this by reinforcing and empowering those who already have that message, so you positively influence a community.

To be honest, I think I'm missing your point as well (not deliberately).  I know you're saying the idea of this is to influence society in general by saturating it with the message it's not OK to touch people without permission, but you have to remember that these things are being aimed at a group of people taught since birth at they don't NEED permission!  A little wristband isn't going to alter a lifetime of living in a society where the women generally don't get much in the way of rights.

I think the thing that's being missed here is that this isn't just a cultural thing. That would be like working the people of India off of curry or an American off of chips and football. Instead, it's a concept that is rooted in their (Islamic) belief.  You don't change that with a wristband anymore than you can make a devout Catholic want to eat eat fish on Friday.  This is not as simple as assimilation into western culture. It's asking a billion people world wide to suddenly only believe part of their religion (the parts that western cultures find abhorrent). Wristbands aren't the answer.  Quite honestly, I'm not sure there is an easy answer. Its not my place to tell someone how to 'believe'.

I'm saying for those that grope, mistreat, molest or worse are not doing it culturally but based on a belief. According to the Pew Research Center, in a survey in 17 of the 23 countries where Muslims  were asked sharia law, at least half of them say sharia is the revealed word of God. In some of those countries, that number exceeded 80%. This doesn't make them bad people, just people with a different belief and thinking that a wristband is the answer is foolish.
