Please help me with this installation for the FTTH connection

HI guys,

 

I was wondering if you had any ideas how I could put this FTTH installation with an ONT and the 2 pigtails+converter to look better? I would need a box or something to have them isolated in one place.

Issue no 1: the fiber cable runs as you see it. It wasn't possible to install it from any other point in the home

Issue no 2: as you know it already, the fiber cable is very susceptible to tearing so it's a high risk that moving these cables too much results in a service interruption.

so was this a self install or is that how the installer left it?

 

Is there anything that will be in front of that, like a desk or something?

Are you giving Interior Design advice now haha!! Jokes... The OP has not really said what he wants... Surely you could build something round it but that's not really a network issue lol!

i wouldn't have left it like this had i known how to wire that ###### up in the first place.. so any idea how to close that gap in the wall and store them nicely would do I think..

Well I ask because if there is going to be a desk you could use a shelf underneath it for placement.  That would be covered by the desk so it wouldn't be an eye sore.  Your wall box seems too small for the cabling and looks like power box you have currently.  Seems like an odd place for your wifi router.  If desk in front you could place the wifi router on top or possible if has high shelf on top of that for better wifi coverage, etc.

 

It sure does not look like you have enough rough to place all inside the wall and then cover it with an access panel/door.  They sell cabinets that mount of the wall..  But so low would be a bad placement for something sticking out.  You could for sure extend where the cables go.  If you have better place for your router.

 

Not sure where that is, if hallway, bedroom, storage room, ??  But you could get a nice av cabinet to place in front of it and store your equipment there, etc.

Thanks While I agree you shouldn't use your fiber cable to skip rope   It can be extended that is for sure.. Just need a coupler for the mode of fiber your using.

I can not really tell what you have there.  Does that fiber even connect to anything?  Is the connection actually working currently?  Looks like you have fiber not connected to your router?  What is the yellow there looks like a simplex fiber?

So to get on with the questions:

yes , the small white fiber wire is connected to the router through the converter (smaller white box) ; from the converter come the 2 pigtails (the yellow wires). you just can't see where in the router because the pigtail is mounted in a groove under the router.

 

Yes it is working as I currently am replying to you guys from the PC connected to the wire. It happens that all the rooms have separate UTP cables that sort of extend the coverage in the house for this hallway setup.

And yes,the positioning being so low it is a bit awkward indeed. I was thinking maybe as you said to have a hanger with a bottom shelf and some kind of box that would mask the router in it. 

 

They won't possibly fit in that tight space so what you see now is the bare minimum of improv I could make after the guys left.
