Used to use teamviewer but not so much after their security breaches earlier this year.

Is it possible to setup my own ID router in TeamViewer like in LiteManager  http://www.litemanager.com/support/Knowledgebase_en/instr_noip_private/

My use would be better classified as 'personal,' but I use Chrome Remote Desktop. It's simple to set up, but sometimes it doesn't seem to want to work. I am not very well versed in networking, but I suspect it is because I have DSL and thus a dynamic IP. I could get a static IP, but I believe that costs more, and I cannot justify the cost. Still, when it works, it's very nice.

Have you looked at Remote Desktop Manager, I've found it a pretty useful tool as it seems to support multiple types of Remote Administration.

Depends.

RDS/RDP shadowing if available

Otherwise VNC for non-MS systems.

I thought the truth was that the only "security breeches" they had were due to idiots using the same password for everything.

so yea, I use a lot of things...depends on the client and what they have purchased or what I have available to me via the company I am working for.  I will never use something that I have to preinstall manually or can't be pushed on the fly or where I can't get full admin access if I know the admin credentials to do so.
