The inside story of a basketball teen so tall, he doesn’t look real

One day, Robert Bobroczky could be the tallest NBA player of all time. But for now, he’s a 7-foot-7, Romanian-born prospect just trying to get consistent minutes at an Ohio high school while immersing himself in a new culture.

His size is what stands out, but it is hardly the only thing that makes the 16-year-old freshman unique. Known as “Big Rob” at school, he’s produced a 4.3 grade point average while attending Grand River Academy in Ohio, the academic partner of Spire Institute, and speaks four languages — Romanian, English, Hungarian and Italian — fluently.

“He’s obviously one of a kind,” said Bobby Bossman, his coach at Spire Institute, a certified Olympic training facility. “The kid’s work ethic is absolutely unbelievable. You ask him to do anything, and he’s going to do it.”

Wow! This kid is going to be set for life,

Which might be cut short. Very excessively large people tend to have bodies that can't cope for long.

The kid who played defensive tackle on the other side of the line from me was 6'9" in 10th grade and about 7'1" and 310 lbs at graduation (12th grade.)

He's 66 now and healthy, with over 40 grandchildren. He's been with his 4'10" wife since 9th grade, and they had 3 sets of twins and 2 sets of triplets, all big kids.  She looked like a beach ball with feet

Size aside - the mention of his spoken languages is not really that impressive. Most eastern Europeans can speak more than one and mostly more than two.

Romanian and Hungarian are a similar dialect I believe and Italian films tend to be broadcast a lot in Romania, so it becomes a second language to them. Before joining the EU, any illegal Romanians in the UK would state they where Italian.

As a general rule, most EU countries now teach English in school. So its no surprise he is fluent in all 4 of these...

On topic however, his size means he could be made for life as a basketball player! Very lucky guy!

Aside from very likely suffering from some kind of pituitary gland problem that's likely going to kill him at a young age, or at the very least, will end up with osteoporosis...

Maybe I should have rephrased and said, he is made for his "very short" life :p

Well I'm pretty sure the basketball needs to go in the hoop to score, watch the video on the source - http://nypost.com/2017/01/25/the-inside-story-of-a-basketball-teen-so-tall-he-doesnt-look-real/ I think he made 1 out of 5 shooting from the highschool 3 line... Just because you are tall doesn't give you any skill...
