+Woodbridge Subscriber² Posted January 20, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted January 20, 2004 Also, do they have anything similar to Compact start menus in WB??? yep https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=133323 ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/132296-req-the-best-of-windowblinds/page/2/#findComment-1622491 Share on other sites
Frogboy Administrators Posted January 20, 2004 Administrators Share Posted January 20, 2004 no, the reason i wanted to TRY out WindowBlinds was to see if they had anything that i would personally want that a msstyle couldnt provide....if i wanted a msstyle, i would just use what im using now....i was trying to look for something that was AMAZING and jaw dropping.....and i found nothing I'm sorry but are you really interested in WB or are you just looking to bash stuff You found 3 skins out of 2600+? Do you think that WindowBlinds skin authors are some sort of different...inferior breed or something? I gave you a link to a list sorted by rating, there are plenty of skins in that list that are quite minimalistic such as ones from Essorant. Why would you want to run a msstyle under WndowBlinds? How about: 1) They're faster when run via WindowBlinds. 2) You're not having to hack your system to do it. 3) You can change the color of an msstyle on the fly. 4) You chan change the gamma correction (brightness, etc.) 5) They are exceedingly easy for you to tweak right from the UI 6) You can assign your right mouse button to do things like roll-up the window or minimize the program when you click on the title bar. 7) Most of the ports have more parts skinned such as the log off/shut down dialogs and other enhancements. But here's what's telling: Do you really have every single msstyle ever made memorized? I doubt it. How would you know which of those 2600 are msstyles ported/inspired and which ones are exclusively for WB? And you want something that is simple and clean and minimalistic AND jaw dropping? Frogboy Administrators Posted January 20, 2004 Administrators Share Posted January 20, 2004 i saw the alien one....but i want pretty much an ALL black theme....someoen stated that if you invert Milk it will make a pretty badass dark theme....but i personally dont know how to do that You can invert the colors of any skin from the color choosing area (appearance dialog, press the color button). Here's XP Charcoal: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/132296-req-the-best-of-windowblinds/page/2/#findComment-1622809 Share on other sites

mittens_
no...im sorry....let me try to explain it better....if i want minimal things, i would stick to msstylesi want something that isnt necessarily minimalistic (but it could be).....hmmm....damnit....i dunno how to explain what i mean...when i figure it out, i will edit my post EDIT: most of those are pretty nice....i like them, are there any good/DARK WB themese out there? I think I understand what you want. I have pretty similar tastes. I love semi-minimalistic dark themes, but yet they are so hard to find! I *really* like Longhorn Slate PDC for WindowBlinds. It's dark, it's simple, and it's just really badass. I also like SouLuna, its' not really dark, but I love blue, and it's very similar to the Slate PDC theme that I listed. Hope you like these. Meshuggah
alright..... i need to tackle a few things on this post 1. frogboy: if i offended you, im sorry...i wasnt trying to bash WindowBlinds ...in fact ive been a secretive supporter of this program for a while....but ive only tried it out.... to me 50 dollars for Object Desktop is a little pricey (only for the fact that i dont change visual styles a lot) ...i know you can buy each product individually....but i also think that is a waste of money...if im going to get something, im going to get EVERYTHING... :) ....thats just me though the whole reason i started this thread was originally to have people post what they thought were the best damn skins out there....and in the process, convince me to buy Object Desktop...and also to maybe convince a few more people as well...i never meant for it to sound like that 6) You can assign your right mouse button to do things like roll-up the window or minimize the program when you click on the title bar. that my friend, is practically the MAIN reason why i love this program..... i LOVE being able to do that...and finally....i did look at EVERY single one of those skins....and to tell you the truth...i really didnt like most...again its not me trying to be an ###### towards you, its just the truth now on to the good stuff...heh... Watercolor , SouLuna and Slate PDC were three i have already downloaded :) NOW AVENGER.....HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.....that is a SWEET ASS theme.....unfortunatly it gives me a 404 error when i try to download it, anyone want to give me a link? and finally....i will ONCE again ask the WB community could someone 1. port 6pack to WindowBlinds 2. invert Milk for me and at least show me how it turned out? im really a n00b when it comes to WB, and unfortunatly right now i do not have the time to learn everything about this program ;) edit: just for informational purposes, i now have 20 WB themes i like...heh.... Frogboy Administrators Posted January 20, 2004 Administrators Share Posted January 20, 2004 I inverted Milk Redux. I have some problems with some of the text being gray. I don't think you'd like it. Some themes work out, some don't. This one I don't think it works out too well on. Marduk
Sinister, has got me thinking, hmmm maybe it's time to try out WB, hmm is 4.2 really hard to uninstall? Does it rape your system when you want to get rid of it still? Last time it broke my "Effects" button in "Appearance" but then that was years ago. I love how you totally ignored my vaild concern and alienated a possible user! Great stuff! I seriously am wondering if you've fixed this problem or not, and how hard it is when you unistall it judging by my previous experiences with it. It doesn't break anything... never had that problem and I've been using it since windows 2k was released.
