Please help explain this skewed Copy-Paste pattern?

 

This is a consistent observation while transporting files from my Win 10 powered Notebook PC to USB thumb drive.

 

The current version of Win 10 reports to be - 10.0.10586.

 

Inputs will be sincerely appreciated.

Mine is a HP USB flash drive of worth 16GB. Nevertheless, the above reference answers the query quite comprehensively!

It's likely filling a buffer then writing to the disk, you can turn off "Optimize for Removable" in the properties for the drive under device manager to "Performance" however make sure you eject it prior to pulling it out of the port.

Looks like bad USB drive. Try another drive.
