A single break of serve in each was enough for the No.4 seed to secure the second and third sets. Srichaphan's problems were compounded in the sixth game of the third set when he rolled his ankle when attempting a backhand. Agassi will face Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean, who came through in four sets - 6-4 3-6 6-4 6-1 - against rising American player Robby Ginepri. Grosjean, the No.9 seed, needed more than two hours to get past Ginepri after dropping the second set with a single break point. Fifty unforced errors to the No.32 seed Ginepri, compared to 28 by Grosjean, proved the telling statistic. World No.1 Andy Roddick also continued his untroubled progression through the tournament, accounting for the accomplished Sjeng Schalken 6-1 6-2 6-3. The big-serving American was too powerful for his Dutch opponent, hitting 27 winners - including 14 aces - to Schalken's 11. In addition, Roddick managed to convert all six of his break point opportunities, with Schalken unable to take advantage of his four chances. Roddick will play Marat Safin in the quarter-finals after the Russian overcame American James Blake 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3. BroChaos Veteran Posted January 27, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 27, 2004 damn safin, took out my boy roddick. i thought roddick could pull it out too. safin is playing strong again though, but he's gonna be too tired to get past andre. i really wish i could participate more in this thread, but i'm scared of finding out results before i get to watch. damn espn, and their tape delays. they didn't even show the 3rd set of the safin/roddick match "becuase of time restraints". all this tennis has gotten me back in the playing mood too. too bad i don't have anyone to hit with, i've just been practicing my serve the past couple days. anybody else here any good?
