Sir Topham Hatt
Is there a WiFi Extender that I can use outside that may not require being plugged into the network physically? So it'll just pick up signal and then boost it further? +BudMan MVC Posted August 10, 2017 MVC Share Posted August 10, 2017 extenders / repeaters are just utter crap!! If you need to cover an outside area with wifi where you can not run a wire.. How are you going to power it? But if you have power but no possible way to run Ethernet you should go with full mesh sort of wifi, or with AP that that support wireless uplink. The unifi brand comes to mind - they sell outdoor AP that support wifi uplink.. So you are not cutting your bandwidth in half like a repeater/extender.. edit: Here is link to the uap-ac-m which is an outdoor mesh AP that supports uplink. And multihop wireless uplink even (full mesh) I do not believe this will uplink to your existing soho wifi network, so you would need an unifi AP inside - say the uap-ac-lite which is their cheapest AC model and retails for $89 while the uap-ac-m runs $99 https://store.ubnt.com/collections/wireless/products/unifi-ac-mesh-ap Sir Topham Hatt 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1339092-can-i-buy-an-outdoor-wifi-extender-booster/#findComment-597991442 Share on other sites
