I've seen similar issues on Dell computers that have trial versions of Office installed.

So far, the removal tool from Microsoft has been effective whenever I use it before installing Office. Pick option 2: the easy fix tool.

What @zhangm said,

I bought my daughter a laptop with Office 365, activated office, then it decided out of the blue, it decided it's trial period had ended. (Took ages to get the woman on the phone, to understand that I followed the steps she recomeended to activate it...)

Anyone try using MS's support & having them fix it ?

You can also try removing Office and re-installing
Use the in place repair tool "online repair"
SARA
there are many options

I recommend using these lightweight approaches and not the hammer method (messing with regedit, your tenant, etc)
