Website saying I'm offline, but works for someone else not on local network

I am trying to visit the website https://www.myunidays.com/US/en-US/account/log-in and when I visit it I see:

But when I have my wife (who lives in Oregon) try to access it she is able to access it, and I can see it via TeamViewer as well.

What can be causing this issue with me? I have flushed the DNS servers and cleared cookies and cache. I have also tried this on 3 different browsers (FF57, Edge, and Chrome) and they all do the same thing.

Do you have another device on YOUR network you can test with? A phone even? What AV do you run? Do you run ISP DNS or something else?

Tried on my cell, it works... using DNS 8.8.8.8, was using OpenDNS prior, and Kaspesky Total Security for AV

Start the process of elimination:

 

Get rid of the google DNS, try your ISP and test

Disable Kaspersky and test

 

It sounds like software that is blocking something required by that webpage, probably the reason the phone works. You did test this on your phone while connected to your wifi right?

I have tried using the ISP DNS, and it sucks, which is why I went to Google and/or OpenDNS, but for trial purposes I went to defaults, flushed DNS and cache/cookies and paused Kaspersky and it did not work... my phone and desktop both have Adguard running on them, and I have whitelisted the page and it still does not work. Yes my phone was on  the home WiFI.

Try disabling adguard and test again. Is there a way to shut down Kaspersky, rather than pause? Has it ever worked for you on this computer? My money would be on AdGuard, the phone and desktop solutions run in different ways. You are talking AdGuard the win32 program and not just the extension I would assume, seeing as you tested on multiple browsers.

I have disabled adguard, and yes it is the program, not the add-on. As far as Kaspersky, yes I can totally exit it, but pausing it does the same thing (I would think). Has it worked before? Yes, many times, but I have never had it on FF57, so I assumed it was FF, but when I try 2 other browsers I knew something was up.

This is still an ongoing issue. I have shut off Kaspesky and Adguard and it still will not connect.

Can you use a Linux Boot-CD on that PC, and see if THAT is connecting to the internet?

Why would I need to do that? Obviously I can browse all other websites, just not that one.

Try a trace route to the sites web address and see what IP it fails on. e.g. 

 

If it doesnt get past your PCs local IP or internat router IP/ net IP. the issue is local, if it gets past you router, its an ISP block.

 

I would uninstall both adguard, retry site and then Kapersky, try using another Av then see if that resolves the issue, then re-add ad-guard and if still good, reinstall Kapersky and see if that changes anything. Depending on how both applications are written, disabling them may not stop actual system hooks. Lotus notes for example, leaves hooks into the Os despite being closed.

Interesting thought, but why only this one website, when all the other sites work?

That I cannot explain mate, my experience with Kapersky is, while its a decent protection, its way too invasive to OS processes for my personal liking.

 

does it still add a Kapersky logo on the boot process? its been a while since i had to support it. if so thats exactly what i mean wtf is the purpose of that

Obviously, something is causing that one site not to load. So I would also recommend booting off a Linux live cd. This takes Windows and ANY software running in Windows out of the equation.

the servers listed that time out may not respond to queries, nothing to worry about as it hits the destination of 54.192.82.191 in 22ms. There is nothing ISP end blocking a connection to the destination, so the issue is local. 

 

im wagering Kapersky personally buddy, as your phone on the same connection via wifi, can access the page and your PC in question can trace a route to the destination.

Hmm something strange about that site... Does firefox or chrome have anything like Internet Explorer's compatibility lists?

 

I would try and run a clean Firefox / Chrome profile and see if that makes a difference.

So I figured out the issue, I turned off AdGuard and suddenly it works... I had previously disabled it, but never completely shut it down.

I would consider myself fairly tech savvy, but this issue really thru me for a loop, and when I asked what about the live CD, I was really hopping for a response other then I got.

You can try whitelisting the domain, or that website specifically and see if it works with AdGuard on. TBH I ran into a lot of incompatibilities when using Ad Guard, as nice as it was when it worked, I moved on. However, I do know their forum support is top notch and if you got in touch with them, I am sure they would whitelist whatever script that website uses for that specific page, its obviously in error or part of a "general" rule that is implements.
