Brandon H Supervisor Posted December 20, 2017 Supervisor Share Posted December 20, 2017 Most of the consumer wireless routers have a first run wizard that takes you through a step-by-step easy setup. The default IP most of the time will be 192.168.1.1 so you should just need to plug in the router and plug it to your modem (if seperate) then plug in a laptop/computer to one of the eth ports on the wifi router and connect to that address for setup. Dick Montage
Routers basically set themselves up to a level. Anything beyond the norm, sure you need to do a little config (usually via their web page) but the fact you ask this question suggests you won't need to be doing that. Yet you have to set it up manually. It's not just putting cables in and boom, you get internet. No, it really is. Maybe not the most secure, maybe not configured how you want it - but yes, it is. You have to go to 192.168.0.1 And it runs the config. I didn't know this earlier. Every single one just worked out of the box - and then required a visit to their config pages to set preferences such as SSIDs, passwords, etc - but only as preferences, not to get them to work. cork1958 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1351328-how-to-setup-belkin-wireless-router-in-easy-way/#findComment-598138624 Share on other sites

Guess it depends on the type.
