neufuse Veteran Posted December 23, 2017 Veteran Share Posted December 23, 2017 Anyone here have VLAN's set up on their home networks? If so what are you using them for and what are they? For me I have VLAN's for Core Network / Managment (multiple switches and multiple AP's) Surveillance (Many IP cameras around the property) Video - (IPTV and Tivo's) Wifi Guest (limited to internet only, and have guest portal set up for time constrains / bandwidth limitations (cant do more then 5GB per day, 10Mbit down/ 1Mbit up for guests) Wifi Private (can see the whole network, WPA2 Enterprise authenticated via RADIUS) Clients - Desktops / Laptops, etc Automation - Anything I don't trust (Ex: IOT) devices for home related automation stuff there are ACL's of course in place also for inter vlan talking Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1351678-home-network-vlans/ Share on other sites
+BudMan MVC Posted December 23, 2017 MVC Share Posted December 23, 2017 Yeah I run vlans - have been for years and years.. Very sim setup to yours.. My trusted wifi is authed via eap-tls.. My devices have to have cert to get on my trusted wifi. With is sill limited to what it can see and do on the rest of my network. But can see my plex server, etc. I don't have any constraints on guest, no portal or anything. And yes I break out my iot devices to their own vlans.. My roku's are on their own, the directv is isolated from everything else, etc.. I currently have 10 different segments.. More than ACLs - firewall between each segment (pfsense).
