Worked on it a lot over the years, can probably see the evolution in my posts on here.

Done a lot of cable management since this was taken and working on getting a 5 panel wall art for the wall behind with my logo on.

Other than that, it's still the same now.

Updates:

Added 2X 120 Slim RGB fans below the Jetstream

 

Changed the ASRock Pro4 for a ASRock Steal Legend (more rgb)

Changed the MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z for a Palit 2070 Super Jetstream

 

Removed 2X fans off the Rad and moved position to accommodate the much bigger 2070 super

At first I was thinking of just purchasing a small build due to high cost of GPUs but at then end decided to hand pick my components and use my existing GTX 1070 and wait it our for the next gen of GPUs.

 

As stated in the link I decided to go for the compact Fractal Design Node 202 case. It's only slightly bigger than my PS4 and definitely more quiet.

When picking components for the build I had to keep in mind the small space I will have available to work with within the case.

 

CPU/Heat-sink Cooler: went with the i7 8700k and to keep it cool in such a limited space used Scythe's BIG Shuriken 2 Rev. B 45.5 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler.

 

Thermal Compound: I used Gelid Solution GC-Extreme 3.5g thermal paste between the CPU and the heat sink. Rated as best performing thermal paste but I do recommend warming it up before aplication by placing the syringe in a zip-lock bag and placing it under hot water.

 

RAM: Low profile Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200

 

Motherboard: Gigabyte's Z370N. Mini ITX with 2 nvme m.2 slots so I can run my Samsung 960 EVO 500GB in Raid 0

 

Storage: My OS and some games are installed on the Raid 0 2x Samsung 960 EVO 500GB, and my other files are located on a Crucial 1TB MX300 SSD (Small, fast, and now spinning drives)

 

GPU: I used the Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! edition as I already had it and did not feel like spending $1000+ to get a 1080ti. Runs everything at 1440p so its good enough. UPDATED TEMPS: Idle @29C & Max Load @75C (Had to play here with the case fans and create custom temp grid profiles for each in order to optimize directional airflow)

 

Power supply: Corsair SF 600. Small, powerful, fully modular.

 

Case Fans: I used Noctua's slim 120mmx15mm fans so there is more space between the GPU and the fans. In some other build people used 120mmx25mm fans.

 

Overall experience: fun to build and really happy with final product. Case makes no noise when I do regular MS Office work, web surfing, movie watching and email checking. CPU fa is the only think spinning but is doing it at 950RPMs and 10-12dbs. GPU fans are off when temp of gpu is below 40C.

Fans kick-in in higher RPMs when playing games like Battlefront II, GTA V, Witcher 3, Destiny 2 but the highest noise the Noctua fans make are 24db, and CPU fan is slightly audible, but not very notifiable when gaming and fraging other people

 

Also few updates on my side, got a new RTX 2080 and an ultra-wide screen from LG 34GK950F

It's quite the change playing in Ultrawide.

BTW, no space or heat issues in this case with the RTX 2080, which was my main concern.

Just did a bit of a system upgrade (motherboard, CPU and heatsink) with some of the holiday offers that have been going on:

CPU:  Intel Core i9-9820X

Heatsink:  Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black

 

Everything installed without incident, and here's everything back in the case:

 

 

No bonus points, as there were no RGB lights used in this build,

I was looking at AMD's (Zen2 microarchitecture-based offerings because the price performance ratios on them are very compelling, but I was concerned about stability.  It seems all the motherboard manufacturers are putting out a constant stream of AGESA updates, and while it is good they are rapidly fixing issues, the fact that they also introduce new ones.  For me, stability and reliability come before performance, and while I did want to try something with higher performance than my now-previous system, I did not want to make any sacrifices when it comes to stability and reliability.  Also, I know that all of the existing hardware works with Intel's CPUs and chipsets, as well as the software I use.  There are some things Intel-based motherboards seem to be simply better at, like CPU-less BIOS (UEFI) firmware upgrades, and I had concerns about having to migrate virtual machines to recognize the new CPU architecture (it seemed like a lot of work for minimal trade-off in performance).

 

The Intel Core i9-9820X was purchased from Micro Center for $350 plus tax.  I also had to make a round-trip drive of about 140 miles, but I felt it was worth it for the discount (~60%).

Primary workstation. Running off a Brix Pro. (i7 4770R, 16GB Ram 512 m.2 SSD) I'd love to build a new PC for it, but I just can't justify it. Other than the loud fan when the CPU is taxed, that's the only issue I have with it. It does everything I need.

Yep, we have them.. just need to find some of international markets ((German, Greek, Eastern European or Russian) they all import them... There are few in Queens & Jersey... they are actually around other cities too...

I finally built a new PC. I made an error buying a gen 4 NVME on an Intel board. Monitor upgrades due next. Last pic for the avoidance of doubt.
