How to create a shortcut in MS Edge that will open a specific site and then launch this shortcut from the command linen

Recommended Posts

Hi the title just about says it all. How can I create an internet shortcut on my desktop using Microsoft Edge, that opens a specific web site when clicked - and what is the full command line input to have this shortcut launched from the windows command line? (It's part of a home automation project). Thanks so much in advance for any responses. :)

Assuming you know how to create shortcuts ... the target would be ...

%windir%\explorer.exe microsoft-edge:Website URL

for example....

%windir%\explorer.exe microsoft-edge:https://www.neowin.net

Not entirely sure what you mean by "what is the full command line input to have this shortcut launched" .... but %windir%\explorer.exe microsoft-edge:Website URL in command prompt will launch Edge/Website.  You can also launch the shortcut in command prompt by just doing the path (so... whateverpath\shortcut.lnk)
