Call me naive, but unless, as you said, the phone is out of data and not getting updates, you stick with the Play store and keep on legit sites, is there a need?

I do... not really for a reason, but also not really for no reason.

 

Seriously, though, it does have some additional features like emergency access, tracking, security, blocking/filtering, etc.

Tis better to have than have not IMO :yes:

 

My Android phone is mostly for testing / backup purposes, but ESET Mobile Security has other benefits besides AV tools and I don't notice any performance hits, so why not (Y)

I do, i run Avast Mobile security, but maybe not even needed, i just believe the Avast things and do that, only smart phone i never ran Antivirus since wasn't none for it was when i had Windows phone, soon as i got my Android i loaded Avast Mobile security
