E3 2018: Dead or Alive 6 Announced

Kasumi and Co.’s new look promises a new era for the series.

By Esra Krabbe A new installment of long-running fighting game series Dead or Alive is coming, IGN can exclusively reveal. Almost seven years after the last numbered title, Dead or Alive 6 is planned for an early 2019 release, coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC via Steam. View the trailer below.

Running on a new engine, Dead or Alive 6 introduces more refined and realistic visual details, including dynamic facial expressions. Characters make a fierce grimace as they execute kicks and punches, sweat covers their body after a combo, and wounds appear when they take damage. The concept art shows a more serious-looking take on series heroine Kasumi, with wounds on her face and a determined look in her eyes. 4K graphics and a drastically improved lighting system should enhance that new image.

This brought a ton of nostalgia back for me. I remember as a young lad, heading down to the local arcade or bowling alley to play DOA or Virtual Fighter.

Glad we're getting PC releases for this stuff now. Zero interest in consoles these days.

Be glad the women even look like women. Surprised they're not buzz-cut, boobless and hairy, so as not to anger the SJWs.

No more beach volleyball?  The physics were so revolutionary in that series.

DOA Xtreme 3 came out exclusively in Asia on PS4 back in 2016. Koei Tecmo won't release it in the West due to the "cultural differences" on how women are depicted in the game. It's region free and includes an English language option if you want to import it though ?

Interesting, didn't know.  I might get it, to see if the physics ? improved from the first 2.

It'll be nice if the X1X and PC versions are proper...seemed like with DoA5 the PS4 version was the only one with all the visual features.  Probably didn't really change much in the game, but still annoyed people.
