LordHatrus
MS-DOS: It's like if you took unix, stripped it down, took all the cool features out of it, made it run one program at a time, and sold it rather than giving it out for free. :) :) :pinch: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/136863-dos-defrag/#findComment-1676845 Share on other sites

"unix" isn't free... :pinch: However, several variants are... ;) (just being silly, nothing personal) :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/136863-dos-defrag/#findComment-1676849 Share on other sites

JoDaddy
Does anyone know where you could get Windows 1.0? The first version I ever tried was Windows 3.0, and am curious about 1.0. I don't know if they are still covered by copywrite or not, so if I'm asking the wrong questions, don't flame me. :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/136863-dos-defrag/#findComment-1676900 Share on other sites
Hum
 I thought 3.0 Windows was the first release. OH ... Windows 1.0 hit the store shelves in November 1985. http://members.fortunecity.com/pcmuseum/windows.htm Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/136863-dos-defrag/#findComment-1677568 Share on other sites
iMonkey
I know where you can get Windows 1. And 2.03 And 3.0 And NT 3.0 I could post a link, as they would probably all be considered 'abondonware' now.. iMonkey
Windows 1 will install with DOS version of 5 and under, while Windows 2 will install with DOS 6.22 or lower. Windows 3.1 came with DOS 6.22 anyways..
