jonovate
This supposedly happened on the 16th or so: With the New Year came a new ballpark moniker -- SBC Park -- and workers continue to unscrew old signs in a massive project. By March, all Pacific Bell signs will be gone, to be replaced by bright new ones with the SBC name. We're talking everything, even the large trash cans. http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/...ws_sf&fext=.jsp http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/...ark_history.jsp http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor..._jim&id=1718810 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/136984-unposted-mlb-pac-bell-renamed-to-sbc/ Share on other sites

Bling3k12
Don't see a problem... the company no longer exists, SBC bought the naming rights. You wouldn't just buy the rights and leave everything branded to a non-existant entity. You wouldn't just buy the rights and leave everything branded to a non-existant entity. but its not that easy. stadiums are identified with their teams and if they are changing names every couple of years, its really just not the same. i'm proud to be a fan of a team that has never had a corporate named stadium Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/136984-unposted-mlb-pac-bell-renamed-to-sbc/#findComment-1688790 Share on other sites

CatnipOligarchy
uhh dont the braves play at turner field? so they are a corporate team. the field was named after ted turner, not his corporation. the stadium was built for the olympics and converted into a baseball stadium and the naming rights were never sold.
