2xSilverKnight
to do a clean install without the bootdisk you just put in your motherboard config your cd-reader in first place and when you reboot put the win xp cd and it will boot from the cd. Thats all ! PS : Sorry for my english :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1370-winxp-problem/#findComment-6153 Share on other sites
xelencin
u can boot from cd, if u burned it correctly.. anyway to install from dos make sure the boot disk or whatever ur booted from has smartdrv and its loaded, then go into the i386 folder on the cd and type winnt enjoy Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1370-winxp-problem/#findComment-6155 Share on other sites
khaos34
dude, if you wanna installi through dos and for some reason you can't boot from cd, just boot with a win9x floppy or somethin akin to that... then just navigate yer way inside of the i386 folder and run winnt.exe, but make sure you start smartdrive first, or it'll take super long to install this was on a couple of other posts i believe hehe =p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1370-winxp-problem/#findComment-6162 Share on other sites
Daysleeper
Just a point.. I noticed something strange in the XP Dos install .. I have a directory called Source in which I have NT4, 98, ME, and 2000 install files.. I copied accross the XP i386 to a directory called winXP .. it refused to install "could not locate Files" was somthing like the error.. I had to call the directory I386... looks like M$ have hardcoded I386 into the setup routine... very strange... Just thought I would share that :-) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1370-winxp-problem/#findComment-6163 Share on other sites
