Question

Hello,

This is the Definitive Best Back-up Software 2019 official thread and covers free and commercial backup software, as well as those built into or bundled with operating systems.  Use this as a starting point for researching back-up software.

The 2018 thread can be found here.

If your choice of back-up software is not listed, please choose Other and specify it in the comments.  The poll is multiple choice, so if you use more than one solution, you can check all of them, be sure to mention which ones you use in the comments.

Regards,

Hello,

So, I'm using a mixture of backup technologies right now:  2BrightSparks SyncBack, Clonezilla, OneDrive, and a mixture of USB external drives, NAS and a SAN.

All tied at 20% with my vote for Acronis True Image. Only one I've ever been successful with! Experimented with Clonezilla but wasn't really trying to backup/restore.

Important stuff is backed up to external hard drive. Don't really worry about blowing up Linux Mint installs as it's just to easy to reinstall totally from scratch! Part of why I run Linux anyway. Haven't had to do that in a long time either.

My vote goes to Macrium Reflect. Have been using it for some time ( 1 1/2 yrs.)  now without incident. Some of the others that I have tried failed just when I needed to restore from a backup; they looked pretty and ran fast but were not reliable.
