That's what I was thinking! It doesn't look like her at all really.

Hmmm, something up must be.

Yea...bunch of rumors floating out there....

It's a rushed composite job, they probably have her seeing herself, aka like Luke in the original cave scene.  It's either a double with Rays face on her, or the fancy looking new dual lightsaber effect they wanted, which is obv all CGI, meant they had to CGI the effect of the light on a face and so on.  I suppose they figured it'd be quicker to just do the whole thing in CGI?

There is one other person with Skywalker blood that isn't dead... and he's only shown in the trailer for about a second.

Edit: Also this is JJ Abrams right? Should we expect Lens Flare: the movie - the sequel?

I think it's time for Lensflare : First Lens (A prequel)

Can't be any worse than the last one, the only way to go is up. So did Carrie Fisher record footage for the next one too or is she CG?

don't say that. if there's been anything I've learned about star wars over the last 20 years is that it always gets worse.

I don't know why we need this movie. She beat Luke with a lightsaber. she beat Kylo too. Kylo killed Snoke which pretty much should mean Rey is better than Snoke.. Rey is already the most powerful person. She's the obstacle to overcome. The only thing this movie can do to make it work at all is to have her turn to the dark side and have Kylo redeem himself.

Star Wars is so dry creatively. They're basically ignoring everything about the second movie. Like, what was even the point? I get that movie was dumb and unfocused, but it had interesting ideas (Kylo and Rey just doing their own thing, letting go of the past), but now they're reverting to good guy vs bad guy with extra throwbacks to the original trilogy.

When all is said and done, the prequel trilogy might actually be a more streamlined, focused, and creatively richer effort. That's just bonkers.

The trailer is pretty good, and I'm not sure if this theory has been around before but I figure the only way to have "balance" is to have 1 Jedi and 1 Sith and nothing else.    I feel like that is where they're going with this final movie.  It's going to be the whole yin and yang thing.  You have both sides and each side has a bit of the other in it.  Expect Kylo to have a little light to him, and Ray a bit of dark etc.

After the last one i'm setting my bar really low for this one.

Having said that ....

Yeah but that guy would burst into tears if he opened a can of coke that had a Star Wars logo on it, love his reactions tho :)

They'd have to kill off that kid at the end of Episode 8 tho? "....many younglings were lost that day....and a stable hand"

I don't know about anyone else but I'm extremely sad to see this part of the story line come to an end. It's been my favorite franchise my entire life and the sequels/spinoffs just don't cut it for me.

I'm in the not happy after TLJ camp (TFA was a tolerable start), but RoS is turning out to look promising. It is unfortunate that we have a weak entry in the middle of a trilogy. It feels like they could have used another episode for the story, expand the Emperor's return, flesh out the First Order, do SOMETHING. I'm just not as attached to the characters or factions now than I was to either the original or even prequels. They do always have the expanded universe they can flesh out, though. There is room between TLJ and RoS to cram in a series like Clone Wars did, and plenty of space for books, comics, etc.

I am a bit more excited about the future, though. A trilogy/series in the Old Republic could be FANTASTIC and a great way to break from the Skywalker saga. Do I trust Disney to make it good? I think they CAN if they leave it in the right hands. My excitement will be directly tied to who is leading the movies, and that isn't clear yet. Stop Disneying things up, Disney.

So another perspective...

I (like many) grew up with Star Wars. Darth Vader was part of my childhood and while I wasn’t the biggest fan of the prequels, I still loved the Universe it was all set in.  I was into the non-canon books, the comics, the tv shows... I was very much excited by anything Star Wars.

Personally, I enjoyed The Force Awakens. I can see why people call it a rehash but I still enjoyed it. I was astounded by Rogue One too.

So The Last Jedi... damn. It made me so annoyed upon first watching. I was really unimpressed by the pandering, the childish story, the nonsensical plot and the very obviously unnecessary set pieces.

I contemplated skipping Solo but eventually saw it. Hey, it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t great and didn’t satisfy me but it wasn’t “bad”.  But by that point I had fully turned off to Star Wars.

So last month I was in Disney World. I went to the newly opened Galaxy’s Edge with an attitude of “Ride the ride and look around”. Wow, they’ve done something special there! It has a story, it has a narrative that you are part of and can’t help but engage with. The ride is good (not great) but I feel the ultimate triumph of the land is not that. You don’t feel like you’re in Florida. You don’t feel like you’re even in Disney World, or even a themed land. You feel like you’re part of the story - it’s been done so well (obviously if you engage with it).

Off the back of this, I feel fully back into Star Wars and am going to pretend The Last a Jedi never happened!

IMHO, the balance will be brought by a new breed of Jedi that use both the light and dark side of the force.

And I'm guessing that these new Jedi will be called Skywalkers.

I'm still hoping the title refers to Anakin. That is the only way the whole "Skywalker Saga" and "connecting all 9 movies" makes any sense. Not sure that'll happen, though.

That's what I was going for, but I don't know if the name is part of it.  You could be on to something though, and it would make sense actually as far as the tag line of the movie goes.  The whole bit about the saga ending but the story living forever.   It would make sense if the name is used in such a way that it lives on forever that way.

Ray is actually a female Anakin clone.  😛

I find it very sad that I'm not even bothering to press play on the trailers. I love Star Wars, but unfortunately I think episode 8 and Solo have dampened my interest. I'm still looking forward to The Mandalorian though.

I think you’re doing yourself a disservice if you let one bad and one average film ruin your enjoyment of a 50 year movie franchise :(

Oh don't get me wrong, I still love the franchise. But the last two films mean that I'm put off caring with this one. I may watch it when it comes out on TV but I'm not going to run to the cinema for it.

As I said, The Mandalorian looks pretty amazing and I'll be sure to check it out.
