The Architect did say that Neo was the sixth one so if there were 5 before him which does lead one in to thinking Neo is a clone.

I didn't think he meant there were literally five other Neo's, just that there were five other "The One's" and that each new one was a reincarnation of the first or just some random guy that inherited the flaw in the matrix that lets them manipulate it.

That's just my take on it anyways. There are a few arguments I could make for and against the idea of clones in the matrix movie universe but I don't have the time to go into it right now.

Who's to say the new movie won't make Keanu the OG Neo; old and scruffy looking (and is the template for the clones) comes out of hiding to have one last battle with the machines?

I'm also kind of thinking the machines won't be the antagonists in this movie. They been there and done that. I think humans will be the antagonist this time. Like there will be a faction of them that don't want peace with the machines or something like that. And what of the leader of that faction is Morpheus? Wouldn't that be interesting?

Edit: hmm... my posts didn't merge. Bummer.

This doesn't sit well with me - The first film was great, had interesting characters who slowly unraveled a mystery and it's great where they can make the viewer feel related to Neo (He's just a guy doing a job that happens to be a good hacker).  Doing 'superhuman' moves appeared to be very abnormal (only agents, the oracle, and the 'potentials' had some powers).

The second movie, turns out lots of programs had powers (seems someone left Windows Defender disabled) and Colonel Sanders waffling about multiple Neo's (who looked exactly the same of course!) who are just a glitch to balance the 'equation' - just ridiculous (I won't even mention the third movie).

I don't foresee how they can write a decent script on a bad foundation that gets back to where it needs to be.  Without the first movie, 'The Matrix' would be forgotten about as another poor action Sci-fi.  I predict a IMDB rating of 6.4, lots of SFX, action and confusing story.

That would be interesting, but probably wouldn't involve Neo and Trinity :(

There are ways they could make it work... like time travel. But yeah probably. I would be okay with that though, I feel like their story was done.

I'm with you overall, each sequel went more off the rails from where the first was set and where you thought it was headed.

That's not to say a 4th can't get back on track but like with my very first post, since it's being written and directed by a Wachowski I have little hope.    In my opinion the 2nd and 3rd movies suffered from the need for the dialog to sound super sophisticated when trying to argue for something that's actually simple.   Do the humans in the story actually have any control or not?   The Wachowski brothers (now sisters?), at the time felt the need to stuff the story with psycho-babble and mix in a good bit of old fashioned spiritualism just in case they didn't throw you off enough with the first stuff.

There is something to be said with keeping things simple while still bringing up a big question.   The first movie kept things simple, and that's why everyone likes it.

The simple idea with clones is that, if the matrix is always stuck, fixed in the same time period and never advances past the 21st century, then you do end up with a problem.  At some point you'd have to reset the date back to 1999 or w/e and start over.   That could be when you bring in a new batch of clones, if clones are indeed a thing.

There were five other Neo's. You could see their different reactions on the TV screens in the back when they heard the same piece of news from the Architect.

That's not how I took that at all. I guess I will have to watch the movies again soon and pay more attention to some of the finer details.

Back when the original movies came out, I threw out the theory that it

was all "The Matrix". Basically, the machines allow the "problem people"

to think they escaped to control their mayhem, when in reality they're

just stuck in a sub-program; thus, the reason still has "powers" in "the

real world".

Here's a plot twist, though. Imagine John Wick 4 and The Matrix 4 are

the same movie.  :)

Usually I'd be against a Hollywood cash-in that's riding a nostalgia-wave, but at leasts bringing one of the the directors and cast is better than their original idea of rebooting it. And I'll welcome any movie that has the balls to challenge the audience and give them something to think about. I'm currently rewatching the trilogy, and I have found new appreciation for Reloaded. Sure, it's far from perfect, but at least I actually felt the need to reflect on it and think about it before I go in to see Revolutions.

Anyone have any plot details that are official yet or are we in the dark until the trailer hits on Friday?    This seems like a sequel/reboot, maybe the start of a new trilogy if things go well.

But there's way more than just 5 TV screens.

I thought those TV screens were showing the current Neo's feelings from different feeling perspectives - fear, anger, disgust...

And surely the other 5 Neo's already knew about this and accepted the deal of starting Zion again, so not sure why they were angry about it all.

That's basically it, they were just showing the different "possible" reactions he could have had from finding out the truth showing on the different screens depending on emotion.    Being human and everything and letting emotion govern your actions etc.

It'll be interesting to see how the new movie changes things up.

I think it's time he shaves. All I see is John Wick.

That's what we're all going to see for better or worse.  But who knows?  Maybe he does later in the movie?    Honestly, it's been his look for so long I think it'd be weird if he did change it.

Look at the last Bill and Ted 3rd movie to see what he looks like shaved. IMHO he looks better with the beard ;)

I'm so freaking excited. If this ends up sucking, I'm gonna crash hard

because of it. Also, Neil Patrick Harris' line "We don't use that word IN HERE."

The double entendre... oooo chills.

*EDIT*

Also, I'm glad they didn't get someone else to cover White Rabbit; there is no substitute for Grace Slick's voice.
