what if my website has no Transportencryption (https) working? does this affect any gdbr law issues?

Question

dear Neowin-experts,

i am glad to be here in this great community,

i have a question regarding a website:

what if my website has no Transportencryption (https) working? does this affect any gdbr law issues?

in other words is it so that in this case i am transmitting credentials unencrypted through the wire!?

does this affect any law or gdpr issue (law)?!

Love to hear from you

Yours Tarifa

I think you mean gdpr and to be honest all of the modern browsers visiting your site will either block the connection or throw up some sort of warning when being forced to use http anyway.

If you can fix the https (there are free certificates you can use like https://zerossl.com/free-ssl/ for example) you should also look into a simple free gdpr/cookie consent script like here https://www.freeprivacypolicy.com/cookie-consent/

I don't think gdpr authorities will go after small websites that are not logging user data (like requiring visitors to login, or any kind of cookie tracking).

Good luck!

I can't speak for GDPR however I can say that I can't imagine there are many users that would willingly enter any account credentials on an unencrypted page at this point in time.
