Bloodshot,  4/10. Flying hand was terrible idea.

they tried to copy DEADPOOL

Toy Story 4. It was... watchable but I expected much better, by far the worst Toy Story movie imo. Good animation doesn't make up for a weak story.

Pixar needs, IMO, to stop with the sequels and move on to something new more often.  Toy Story was fine as a trilogy but you know, cash cows, got to milk them.

My housemate and her boyfriend made the mistake of telling me that they had never watched The Shining. So we had a pizza night and put it on last night. Followed by 3AM and 2AM.

For a more recent film though, I watched Underwater. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't groundbreaking or anything. I found myself wanting to watch Sphere instead. I would have also preferred a better look at the monster, but I guess you're going to have a lighting issue when you're at the bottom of the Mariana Trench...

Moreover, the end of Toy Story 3 was utterly perfect.  A poor sequel just takes away from it.

I've thought about watching that one at some point, as more of a time killer if nothing else.

Watched The Gentleman last night, top notch Guy Richie flick,  8/10

Just watched “Rise Of The Footsoldier”

tries to be a gritty 80s/90s London gangster movie but sweet lord it’s crap. The lead character seems to be wearing so much make up that he looks like a drag queen, every character is a cliche and it feels like the story was written by someone who had no first-hand context of the events but had a glamorises view of them.

The acting is utterly shameful, the director seems to have been having a stroke, the period music pieces are low-rent soundalikes, the gore is pathetically overplayed.

Just the biggest pile of drivel I’ve watched in years.

Apparently the (direct to DVD) sequels are better thanks to Craig Fairbrass actually being able to act with a modicum of on-screen personality.

It Chapter 2, was a bit too long but not bad... I think  part 1 was better.

Lots of people say that, but also about the book to, not just the movies.

The Gentlemen.

Pretty good flick with a stellar cast. I strongly recommend it.

Agreed, watched it last night for the second time...Hugh Grant with "What is he? Chinese? Japanese? Pekingese? Get on your f**king knees?" or "You’ll just hear me scratching about in the dark, w**king into a hanky." ...

🤣

Extraction,  I'd give it a 7/10.  The plot is light and basic but it's more about the characters and their development through the movie.    It's kind of like Sicario but just one or two steps below.

Re-watched Soylent Green, The Omega Man and Logan's Run.

Classics night. Awesome.

I just watched 1BR. Basically, it was a movie-length The Twilight Zone episode. Pretty good, overall. 7/10

Jumanji: The Next Level : IMDB

7/10 ... not quite as good as the 2017 version ... but still a fun watch.  The Danny Glover and Danny DeVito characters/avatars were funny (though Dwayne Johnson going "huh" every second line got a bit old).  Can't go wrong with Karen Gillan...

Watched it by streaming it on Fandango, which I didn't know they streamed.  My sister had stuffed a Fandango gift card into a set of bed sheets (Christmas gift from last year) which I discovered when I opened them last night.  Ha.

That's funny. A couple of weeks ago I did an "I Am Legend" marathon of all the films. I totally forgot to put that in my last post.

Commando (1985)  IMDB

9/10 when I watched it in the 80's ... I loved this movie then.  But...

Holy crap...this movie did not age well.  Terrible and distracting soundtrack throughout the movie.  Horrible dialogue and acting.

3/10 on the re-watch.

Killing Gunther  IMDB  (streaming on Netflix)

This movie has some bad reviews ... but I enjoyed it.  Goofy and doesn't take itself seriously at all.  Basically it's about a group of hitmen/hitwomen out to kill Gunther (the #1 hitman) filmed as if it were a reality show.  You also get to hear Arnold Schwarzenegger sing (yea, not so good).

8/10

The Old Guard, Netflix, 2020.

It's a 6/10 from me only because it's got some cheesy lines in the 3rd part and also because of the way they filmed the fighting.  You can tell the stunt/fight people put work into everything, then the director craps on it all with the way it was shot.  It could've been a solid 7/10, or higher, with a little more love on the cinematography.
