Yes by that logic, you would not even need a smartphone, a simple flip phone would work! :D Do they still make flip phones?

You ever try texting on a flip phone? Total PITA! To get the letter S to come up, you actually have to hit the same key 4 times as it's the 4th letter on that keypad!

I know a few people who still use a flip phone and from what I've noticed with them, they are actually better at getting a signal in weak areas, but that's about the ONLY advantage.

Edit: Oops, replied to wrong person actually, but you were part of this conversation! :)

I work with credit card terminals. I have to deal with typing letters on their 10 key keypads daily still when they need downloaded lol

I prefer Android for its customization. Unfortunately the work phone is using iOS, and I see no reason to have two contracts when my work phone is allowed to be used to make personal calls. So now my Android is just being used as an MP3 player. Seems a bit of a waste. 🙁

Yes, I have! I remember T9 texting! :)

Use whatever you like. Huge Android fan here, but have an iPhone and I am too far invested in the ecosystem at this point to switch, but I do usually buy last generation of android phones to look under the hood still. They both work, each has their quirks, go with what you can afford and enjoy.

Also, the poll should have a few more options IMO. I prefer Android, but don't daily use it. Would be a nice option to the poll.

Android ; it's the overall better option especially due to $. anything Apple is overpriced, which generally  makes them unattractive. but price aside, iPhones are better in some ways since things are more standardized and will likely receive security updates etc for a while where as a random generic/no name Android phone might not.

basically the main thing is avoid generic Android phones since they are less likely to get security updates. but if you stick to brand names like Samsung, you should be good for a while.

besides... like @cork1958 mention, you don't need the flagship phones since they are far more expensive and are not that much better than phones a little bit older but much less $. personally I would just get a decent/reasonably priced phone (say $50-100) and the saved $ could be put towards a proper desktop/laptop computer as those are more secure in general doing important stuff online since they tend to get security updates much faster. I just can't see paying a ton of $ for a smart phone which is a overpriced/watered down computer.
