+jamwheat Subscriber² Posted July 20, 2020 Subscriber² Share Posted July 20, 2020 Just started getting the message "This build is about to expire 7/31/2020". I am running build 20161.rs_prerelease3200627-1754. The past 4 days of windows updates have only updated security definitions. I am on the "Fast Ring / Dev" cycle, with no updated build showing. Changing cycle to "Beta" brings nothing up either. First time this has happened. Any ideas? Steven P. Administrators Posted July 20, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 20, 2020 I wouldn't worry about it, with the July 4th holiday and all it seems that an update is taking longer than normal https://betawiki.net/wiki/Windows_10_build_20161 Can you screenshot the error message and add to this topic? We might write something about it later. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1397960-build-about-to-expire-issue/#findComment-598565759 Share on other sites
Steven P. Administrators Posted July 20, 2020 Administrators Share Posted July 20, 2020 I was just told there is a newer build https://www.neowin.net/news/here039s-what039s-fixed-improved-and-still-broken-in-windows-10-build-20170 wonder why you did not get it yet? You should be able to get build 20170, which arrived on Wednesday; however, that build isn't being offered to those with an AMD processor. Typically, the Windows Insider team releases new Dev channel builds on Wednesdays on a weekly basis. They skipped one week before 20170 though, but you should hopefully see one this week. George P Global Moderator Posted July 20, 2020 Global Moderator Share Posted July 20, 2020 Yeah, do you have a AMD CPU? If so you'll get the next build after 20170. +jamwheat Subscriber² Posted July 21, 2020 Author Subscriber² Share Posted July 21, 2020 Yeah, I have an AMD. How long do I have to wait for the next build, I wonder? Still nothing showing in updates. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1397960-build-about-to-expire-issue/#findComment-598565969 Share on other sites

I think they release pretty much every Wednesday ? +jamwheat 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1397960-build-about-to-expire-issue/#findComment-598565998 Share on other sites
