Onedrive and Windows 8 (first time using Windows 8 !!)

Question

So I'm helping out this person who has 2 laptops, 1 windows 10 and 1x windows 8.1.
I told her about buying office and getting the 1TB onedrive space, which is what I have in my office and works great between many.

Funny thing, this is the first time I actually TOUCHED windows 8. Man, the GUI is so many ways different and hard to navigate coming form a a win7/10 type.

So anyways, I wanted to configure OneDrive but , opposed to Windows7/10, when I click on OneDrive icon, it just gives options of "pause/resume" " open folder". Where the heck is the CONFIGURATION option or something??  The issue is she isn't getting her files synced. I did verify them on www.onedrive.com and I do see the files/folders, but not on windows 8.

There wasn't initially a user associated with OneDrive, so at least I was able to do that part (hence getting the default folders from OneDrive to show on her Windows Explorer)

Correct. The offer "officially" expired in 2016 but it's been functional ever since.  Upgrades from Windows 7 and Windows 8 still activate automatically.

Even though I would love too, it'll have to wait at least for the weekend because she lives pretty far and we both got work do it.

In the meantime was thinking just getting to work this without the hassle of migrating the OS and any possible problems

A more painful option is a clean install of Windows 10.  Still, you will want to record the existing Windows key beforehand due to licensing issues.

The advice of upgrading to Windows 10, while great, doesn't really help you right now does it...

I hardly touched Windows 8 or 8.1, I think it's what made me move over to Linux. But first thing is first, the account on her computer: is it a local account, or is linked to her Microsoft account? I'm assuming by the last sentence that her account is now connected, but best to be sure.

Once that is done, you should be able to find the OneDrive settings under the Windows settings. Settings>PC Settings>OneDrive. You can find the information here.
