Here are some of my oldest screenshots:

June 1999. I was about 13 years old. Windows 95's Control Panel on our Packard Bell MultiMedia 9030.

April 2003. Unreal Tournament 2003, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Battlefield 1942. They take me back. I'm surprised I was using IrfanView, even back then (I still do, daily), and even more surprised that the logo/icon hasn't changed! I still use Winamp daily, too.

June 2003. Looks like I was messing around with Serious Samurize.

March 2004. A photo of my system, including Planet Quake! I was using Planet Unreal (and a map website along the lines of Nali Maps?) a lot more, back then. I never really got into Quake 3 Arena. Check out the size of the DVD player 😂

You went all-in on the Nvidia skin, didn't you? *Sigh* Remember when we thought that looked awesome?

Unfortunately I don't think I've got any screenshots older than December, maybe September if I jump on to Linux. I've not really considered making time capsules. ;)

A blast from the past, 19 November 2002 when we were leaking info about Windows Longhorn.

I had a look around but I can't find anything immediately older but I probably do have stuff in other folders.

Man oh man, Longhorn news and screenshots was one of the reasons I first signed up to Neowin all those years ago. I remember trying to customize Windows XP to look like the blue M builds of Longhorn. In fact, this is still one of my favorite wallpapers:

OG Neowin member here definitely remember all of this. Thanks for the flashback!

30.05.02 - Windows Me with a Windows XP icon pack:

07.03.03 - Final screenshot of our families very first PC before installing some hardware upgrades - I think this was a Blackcomb inspired theme and a program by Stardock to change the mouse pointer to look like a waterdrop:

16.03.04 - Windows 2000 on a college computer - I seem to remember we had to create an interactive Kiosk in Macromedia Director for one of our coursework assignments, I believe you could click on the logo for the consoles and you'd be shown a list of games you could read more about and see various screenshots.

Also playing Jazz Jackrabbit 2 from a USB pen drive, at the time we'd discovered our college would allow any .exe to run from usb flash drives (which were relatively new in 2004) so we used to bring small network capable games in and play them in free periods.

I've got quite a few random old screenshots, so I've tried to share a variety from older operating systems.

In keeping with Steven's theme, this is one of my earliest screenshots of Windows XP, using the lovely Luna Element theme from Tornado5. I wanna say this is from 2005/2006.

The oldest screenshot I uploaded to Neowin was in Nov 2002 in the BootXP Bug? topic, but unfortunately it's no longer accessible.

The oldest screenshots I uploaded to Neowin that are still available on the server are all from Sep 2003:

Oh man, good old old XP times!

I loved that OS so much and still remember my excitement while waiting for the installation to finish. XP felt so fresh and modern back then.

Oh by the way I'd love to share some Windows XP movies I shared few years ago here at Neowin:

Definitely check them out to get that extra 2001 vibe :D

Enjoy!

Talking of Windows XP, anyone remember this viral image from 2001?

Hard to believe this was near enough 20 years ago!

I don't have anything before 2004. The oldest I have is a Windows XP desktop screenshot, and screenshots from Windows Longhorn 4074.

Awww... MSN days...

I remember writing a letter to the MSN support so they could upgrade my mailbox from 2 to 20 megabytes :D

Back in 2004-5. Jeez these "tiny" screens was so large and heavy!  Typing this on my 32" "TV" monitor, and I see progress! along with a 65" TV on the wall instead of this tiny TV I had sitting next to it.

Is that a Hitachi VCR laying on a floor? I think I had the same one back in my childhood days 😛

@ozgeekI had a very similar version of that case, the front design just looks a little different to yours.

The photo meta data shows the date taken as 23.01.2004:
