0 Jim K Global Moderator Posted July 21, 2021 Global Moderator Share Posted July 21, 2021 @bikeman25 hmm...I take it back. It looks like it might be the only way to grab firmware updates. So, if your SSD is fairly new (as far as the make/model) ... it might be worth keeping around for awhile. 0 bikeman25
Using Samsung SSDs--(1 M.2 500GB boot drive, and 1 860 Evo 1TB Game Drive) and 1 Western Digital Internal Drive (1TB) and 2 Other Western Digital External Drives, namely WD My Passport, and WD Elements 500GB drive I mean i can leave the programs in if need be, not really hurting much, i don't open them often at all though Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1409803-do-i-need-western-digital-dashboard-software-for-my-western-digital-externals/#findComment-598662350 Share on other sites
0 Jim K Global Moderator Posted July 21, 2021 Global Moderator Share Posted July 21, 2021 ...I would say no then. It is for: Quote The Western Digital Dashboard helps users maintain peak performance of the Western Digital SSD in Windows® operating systems with a user-friendly graphical interface for the user. The Western Digital Dashboard includes tools for analysis of the disk (including the disk model, capacity, firmware version, and SMART attributes) and firmware updates. 0 bikeman25
Oh Ok, then will take care of the programs later on this evening in that case, installed them for some reason in the past, probably since WD Data Life guard discontinued, and it suggested on WD Site to install the Dashboard, but don't think will need to run Smart tests that often on the WD internal drive, or WD My Passport External.
